Excellent phone overall! 5-star phone and is by far worth the money! This phone not only can call people but it is a computer/laptop device at your finger tips and not only is it that, it is also an advanced high-tech ipod! This phone combines all phones into one with the ipod, the storing size, the phone feature, the apps, the apps especially makes the phone an A+ especially when you get to make them and share them with the world also! This phone is astonishing and if you had the money to either buy a regular phone or an iphone, I would pick the iphone in a heart beat!! You can download apps, music, movies, play the apps and play them against others live just at your finger tips. It is just like an online community except you play games and compete for number one!! This phone has so many features, 2x faster loading speed, more online apps, compass, video recording, the 3+ megapixel camera with autofocus, landscape texting mode, voice automated dialing, voice activated ipod playing (can play a simple song by just saying it!!), and the touch screen itself!! This phone, A++ and I praise apple for making these phones. outstanding, BUY IT TODAY OR YOU WILL REGRET IT, trust me, it will probably be the best decision you have made, I have one myself and I can't keep myself off of it, it is SO addicting and fun!! BUY, BUY, BUY, BUY!!!!

The Phone that changed the world....
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Just over a year after Apple birthed the first iPhone, the long-awaited, next-generation iPhone 3G has arrived bearing a mildly tweaked design and a load of new features. With access to a faster 3G wireless network, Microsoft Exchange server e-mail, and support for a staggering array of third-party software from the iPhone App Store, the new handset is the iPhone we've been waiting for. It still lacks some basic features but when compared with what the original model was year ago, this device sets a new benchmark for the cell phone world.

With the iPhone 3G, Apple appears to have fixed some call-quality performance issues we had with the previous model--in our initial tests, the volume is louder with less background buzz than before. The 3G reception could be improved, however. Music and video quality were largely unchanged, but we didn't have many complaints in that department to begin with.

Price may well remain our largest concern. New AT&T customers and most current AT&T customers can buy the iPhone 3G for $99 for the 8GB model and $199 for the 16GB model. If you don't qualify for that price--check your AT&T account to find out--you'll pay $399 and $499 respectively. Either way, you'll pay $15 more per month ($74.99 total) for a plan comparable with the original iPhone ($59 per month). So, while you'll pay less outright to buy the handset, you'll make it up over the course of a standard two-year AT&T contract.

So should you buy an iPhone 3G? If you haven't bought an iPhone yet, and have been holding out for a new model, now is the time. If you're a current iPhone owner and you're yearning for a faster cellular network, then you should take the plunge. But if you're an iPhone owner who won't use 3G (or can't; check your coverage at AT&T), then you should stick with your current model. The iPhone 2.0 software update provides Exchange server support, third-party apps support, and many new features without the added cost.

My personal take, if you cannot hold out for the iPhone 4G (scheduled to be released Summer 2010) - or don't have the cash - stick with the 3G over the 3GS. For considerably less money you get JUST about the same thing.

Apple iPhone 3G 16 GB Black
Review created: 02/28/10

The third time’s the charm for the new iPhone 3G S, the latest addition to Apple Inc.’s successful smartphone family that has sold more than 20 million units in less than two years.

Perhaps you were one of the many who tuned in online to Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) to witness the unveiling of the handset (the "S" stands for speed, by the way). If so, you’re likely aware of its promising new features, which include faster performance, additional storage space, video recording functions, an improved digital camera, voice-controlled music playback options, a digital compass and more. That said, those who already own an iPhone or iPhone 3G shouldn’t feel too left out of the fun as some of the goodies built into the iPhone 3G S are now downloadable via a free software upgrade, iPhone OS 3.0 (see sidebar). AT&T, by the way, has now dropped the price of its existing 8GB iPhone 3G to $99 (with two-year term).

Sounds good, right? But reading these bulleted features on a presentation slide is one thing: Testing them out for eight straight days is another. We painstakingly put the iPhone 3G S through the wringer to see if it lives up to the hype spun by the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech powerhouse – and happily, the short answer is yes, yes and heck-freaking-yeah.

  A Detailed Review From A Customer's Perspective
Review created: 07/07/09(updated 07/07/09)

Status Symbol:

Ofcourse, the owner of an iPhone gain a bit more attention in the crowd (not applicable for those who are least bothered about public attention) loaded with 16 GB memory with wide variety of features will keep you engaged in those long hours where you have to wait for a delayed flight. From a corporate point of view - we can boast , "Yeah, our organization believe in offering the best instrument for Top Management and we are sensitive to the glamour quotient"
Note - Personally, I am not convinced with this paragraph, but I am just presenting the collective opinion of my colleagues.

Aesthetics:

"Design Maketh Apple".
With its epidermis of glass and steel, this wonderful instrument comes in shade of black. Once when the instrument is switched on, it calls for focused attention. And for a device so sexy, Apple need to focus their research to find a cure to be rid of the finger prints that blotch the screen. It has got the beauty and elegance of the legendary alchemical tool.

Features:

Touchscreen is something that created euphoria among the users. The innovative feature ensure a new interaction scheme with the ability to push pictures aside with your fingers sliding on the screen or zooming in by running two fingers in opposite directions across the screen.
The combination of touch screen and accelerometer gave birth to many games and applications.

Accelerometer is used to let the device know about the acceleration and gravity induced forces acting upon the instrument. In short, accelerometer aid the instrument with signals based on which the instrument choose to control an application.
E.g.:
a) The flipping of an image from landscape to portrait if you rotate the device by 90 degrees is done by virtue of accelerometer
b) The bowling game - allows you to swing your arm just like you are bowling and here you see a cricket ball on your hand and not a mobile phone (make sure that you control your excitement so that you don’t throw away this delicate darling)

Connectivity: All areas in our office have Wi-Fi connectivity and the iPhone got faster access to the network compared to the Blackberry service which we were using previously.

Sound Quality - Those who are indulged in multi level conferencing using mobile phone / Skype, iPhone will definitely provide excellent sound clarity. I tried it out twice and was convinced with the quality of reception

Let’s have some music - If you click the iPod icon on the bottom right corner of the instrument, which will lead you to an exciting world of the graphical version of iPod. You will feel like "Alice in the wonderland". iPod being another Apple Product, will continue to enthrall your attention. They are the best sounding media players.

Spoiler alerts
If you got fat finger, you are going to struggle with the volume slider.

External speakers lack bass but will make it up for it in crystal clear higher frequencies. Those who are not serious about sound clarity - lucky souls, you won’t get to know any difference

Summary
In short, those who are happy with making calls, receiving calls and sending / receiving sms - iPhone is a luxury. There is no need to go ahead with this instrument.

iPhone wins hands down when it comes to interactivity, sound and video quality.
The fluidity in its movement, the sound it can conjure through earphones / speakers shows Apple’s integrity towards a portable world. Just handle this baby with care :)

iPhone 3G:The only phone better is the 3Gs / Now $99
Review created: 06/23/09

The iPhone 3G capacity for all your music & lots of cool applica

I've owned a cellphone since 1992. I've always had a "top of the line phone" (I've always had AT&T GSM as well = formerly Cingular = formerly BellSouth Mobility). I've had some good phones: Motorola v60 "Vader", Nokia 6102i

GSM is the international standard & the technology the iPhone uses

The iPhone OS 3.0 update is free & adds copy & paste + MMS

I've had some REALLY bad phones: Motorola SLVR, Sony Ericsson s710a, & an HP iPaq 6515. In 16 years having cellphones, I've had over 100 (yes 100+) different models & makes

I haven't had signal issues w/ many phones, it's always been asthetics that bothered me or a clumsy interfaces

Every phone I've ever had, no matter how long I've had it - I always had a problem placing a call on hold & answering another call or joining a call into a 3-way call. With the iPhone interface being so well designed & the features so clearly labeled. I don't have that problem any more

As for the design - the Sony Ericsson s710a was a beautiful phone, but the way it flipped open was awkward. When you opened it - it flipped upside down. You had to open it, then rotate the phone to use it

With the HP iPaq 6515 - I hated the keyboard. It was hard to see, crowded w/ characters & difficult to use w/ my large fingers. This is a problem I face w/ almost all phones w/ physical keyboards except the HTC 8525 - which has the best phone keyboard of any phone. iPhone users should try the pogo stylus

The camera on my Nokia 6201i was great, but it was difficult to use & to get pictures off of

The iPhone keyboard is clear, easy to use, & once you get use to it - allows for very fast typing. I used it more in the first 10 days of owning my iPhone than I ever used ANY keyboard on ALL phones I've ever owned

The camera on the iPhone is terriffic - the viewfinder & capture buttons are crystal clear. It's easy to get the photos from iPhone to computer for editing

Unlike most smartphones - that have Windows Mobile, the iPhone has an intuitive interface that's easy to understand & navigate. There's no need to read a manual; it's just simple to understand.

Before the iPhone, I hated text messaging. I texted more in the 1st 10 days than I have in the last 10 years!

Because an iPhone uses standard iPod sync & charge cables, accessories are easy to find.

Battery life is very good; even when utilizing power draining features like Wifi & Bluetooth.

I can actually use the calculator on an iPhone, unlike on other cell phones where you have to figure out what key corresponds to an add/multiply/divide

The Google Maps feature is amazing w/ the ability to use satellite data. The GPS integration w/ LocateMe is awesome

The weather forecast widget is nice to have - especially in the summer so you can plan your outdoor week or weekend spontaneously

My complaints thus far:

- Edge data network is acceptable & what I connect to 90% of the time, but you still have to pay for 3G access which $10 more a month
- I'd like to see bluetooth data exchange so I could sync an iPhone via bluetooth.
- FM transmitters don't work well due to interference

Invalid complaints:

- The keyboard is hard to use - at 1st it is ... it definitely takes getting used to. Once you start letting an iPhone correct your mistakes & just hitting the space bar, it becomes pretty fast. I've always thought this was an invalid complaint because blackberry & treo are just as difficult.

Iphone is a MAC product. Nothing else needs to be said.
Review created: 01/10/10
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Almost every product that Mac brings to the market is far superior to any of its competitors; Iphone is definitely is a superior product. Built on a Leopard operating system the iphone is not only extremely user friendly, it actually does everything it was promised to be able to do. Would I like to see it do some more stuff?, yes, but if you ask any user of any electronic device if they would like their product to be able to do more, the answer will always be yes. However, in comparing the Iphone to its competitors such as any other android or PDA phone, the Iphone beats them all hands down. Iphone does restrict the user to the applications which are available through Itunes. If that is not enough and you are willing to spend some time on Google, you will find way to unlock the Iphone and make it capable of accepting almost any application. Overall Iphone is an excellent product and if you either need or just want a cell phone that is also a mini personal computer this is the product to buy.

PS. In June of 2010 the contract between Apple and ATT expires. For those of you how as I do do not like ATT, hopefully the Iphone will be made available through other carriers so that those who do not know how to unlock and jailbreak the Iphone will be able to buy it through any cell phone company.

First time with an Iphone - after having Iphone envy. It is a great device. Apps are an endless source of games, business tools, things to use for everyday life. WiFi works well, as does the basic phone, good to have my full directory synced with Outlook and Google Calendar - but the opportunity to integrate these things on one handheld makes it truly convenient.

It is AMAZING....!!!!! I wasn't into the whole touch screen scene, but damn,I had no idea what I was missing... Simply amazing. Anyone who has not tried this phone, should go out and get it as soon as possible on w/e network. I don't use it w/ AT&T so I didn't need to pay for an internet plan. But I have wifi at work and at my university making the phone's internet capabilities essential open to me. I'm kept busy with work meetings, schedules, etc and this phone is great at reminding me when things are due, giving me the ability to do last minute things and keep in constant contact with the world/ whomever where ever I am. The range of apps that can be downloaded for free is phenomenal as well. I seriously wonder how I survived without this phone before.... it is just that darn good!!

Differences between 3G iPhone and 2G iPhone
Review created: 03/10/09
23 of 26 people found this review helpful.

Today I had the pleasure of reviewing and comparing it with my own first generation iPhone. So now I’m here to give you the low down between the two, and what I like better about each.

The Look and Feel

My iPhone has the smooth metal finish with the black strip on the bottom. The front has a shinny metal bezel which ends around the screen. The buttons are all constructed on plastic and move very easily. The earpiece is back with a black plastic, and the bottom speakers/speakerphone is hidden behind plastic mesh. The headphone jack, is unfortunately recessed.

The iPhone 3G has a smooth glass black finish (also available in white). This finish runs unbrokenall around the 3G, and ends in the same place as mine with the shiny metal bezel. All the buttons on the 3G are now constructed with shiny metal (except the home button). This gives them a thicker feel over the cheap feel of the iPhone’s plastic buttons. Instead of a black finish behind the ear piece, there is now a silver perforated mesh. This same mesh is used for the bottom speakers/speaker phone. A new aspect on the bottom side of the 3G is the inclusion of two screws, which could presumably be used to open the case. The second greatest difference is the new inclusion of a no-recessed headphone jack.

The main difference between the interior and exterior of the iPhone and the iPhone 3G, is of course the backside casing. Another key difference is the shape of the back of the two phones. My iPhone is flat across the backside, with rounding near the edges. On the 3G, this rounding much more pronounced as it take on the form of a drawn out dome that tapers near the edges. The rounded back of the 3G also extends out further than that of the original iPhone. The iPhone 3G is also slightly wider than the original iPhone, though not enough to notice. The screen of the iPhone 3G is also slightly warmer than the original, as was mentioned on the news a few weeks ago.

The Features

The difference in features between the iPhone and the iPhone 3G are not large. The 3g does have GPS, and the capability to download data at higher speeds over the 3G network. After testing the GPS, I found it to be very accurate, finding our location within a matter of seconds. Comparing this to the cellphone tower triangulation on the original iPhone, the 3G is clearly more precise.
The 3G network is much faster than the 2G. The 3G showed less bars, whereas my 2G showed full bars. Turning off 3G showed the same results as my iPhone on the 3G. The 3G was faster downloading App’s and browsing the internet.

Other than the GPS and the 3G network, there is no real difference between the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G as features go.

Overall comparison

Comparing the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G side by side, it is obvious that the iPhone 3G wins as far as new hardware goes. The only thing that I dislike about the 3G is the black backing. I much prefer the aluminum backing on my 2G iPhone. The other thing I dislike about the 3G is it’s more expensive data plan and lack of included text messaging. I don’t want to pay $15 more dollars a month than already do, so I think for now I will be keeping my iPhone. I imagine I will wait until the next iteration of the iPhone is out to trade my 2G in.

Review created: 04/07/10

I love this phone. I am able to keep my calendar and phone contacts in one place as well as leaving myself notes that are not on multiple pieces of paper that can get lost. Also if I am driving I can leave myself audio notes. I can also occupy myself when I have down time waiting for something with a game or eBook. I have dumped the date book, note pad and seperate cell phone. The only thing I am missing is the ability to send picture messages. I hope that they will come up with an app that will fix that but I am able to email pictures with my 3g network.

* Why you bought it?
I bought the iPhone as a christmas present. It was sold as a present, and I thought it was a good idea.

* What you like most about it?
The iPhone looked in good shape, when I first opened the package.

* What you dislike about it?
The lower part of the touch screen had a small crack that developed into a larger one, making it unable for me to use the phone. You couldn't write text messages because of the small letters. Your little finger would fit up to three letters. The touch on the phone, had slow reactions. You had to touch the screen several times before it reacted.

What can you say about the iphone. The Best interface in the market right now. Stable OS with full fledged browser for internet with 3G support. it's a little pricey & Apple doesn't allow 3rd Party Apps.

The iPhone is undoubtedly the best smart phone available on the market right now. With the iPhone, things just work.

The phone just seems to work flawlessly. The fact that it has the full-fledged browser (and not a "stripped down" version) is a big plus too. You don't have to wonder if you can go to a site because it is not compatible for the mobile browser. If it works on your computer, it will work on your iPhone. :)

And then you have a complete iPod in your pocket which is one of the best iPods Apple has released so far. With cover flow and touchscreen interface, the iPod experience is delightful. It's like touching your music. :)

So what could be better?

  iPhone 3G - 8GB

I also love how it does EVERYTHING! If you need a phone that does everyhting, this is it. I know Blackberry lovers may shy away due to needing Word or Excel, but like the commercials say, "there's an app for that." The only down side about the iPhone is the battery life. I've had a couple now and they seem to run out of life after 6-8 hours or so. I talk on my iPhone(s) all day tough so you may get more. Besides the battery life, the only other thing I dislike it the black finish on the back. It's a very nice upgrade from the Grey finish on the 2G but it gets scratched up more. Even if you handle it like it's a bomb, it will still get scratched. I suggest for those who are anal about things like this, that you get a case/cover - you're going to need it.

I can't express more on how great the iPhone 3G is. Works amazingly nice, especially when it has been jailbroken. I got bluetooth to work and send and receive files from any phone that has bluetooth. Also got tethering to work also. Got a really good video recorder software, and mms is just working great! No phone is better than the iPhone! The touch screen could never be better. The precision is just amazing. Overall, it's the greatest phone that you can get today!

The outside 98% like original, the screen is smaller then the original. And the inside was way different from the real one. If you like to have a good looking style with low price, you have to buy it. But if you like to use the feature or want to have a smartphone function, you better buy a real apple iphone. This phone software is way from being called smartphone.

Good but TOO BIG AND CRAP CAMERA!
Review created: 04/03/09
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Ok so it's 3g... It should have been in the first place so thats nothing to brag about... 99% of phones have 3g...
Same goes for the headphone jack...

The GOOD:
The apps are what makes the phone. Without the apps, it's under average. The phone itself is alright, It has a good responsive touchscreen if the screen is clean, It has very nice vibrant colors on a clear screen, The music player is great obviously, it's thin and has descent call quality.

The BAD:
It's quite large, if you are a girl and don't have huge pockets like a guy and don't want to carry a purse you are forced to hold it in your hand the whole time, The camera SUCKS... comparable phones have AT LEAST 3.2mp cameras... The Omnia has a FANTASTIC 5mp camera and the memoir has an 8mp camera... The apps are cool but they are very gimmicky, you wont use half of the ones you download anyways.

COMPETITION:
Samsung Omnia
Samsung Memoir
Samsung Tocco
Lg Dare

WHAT IT COMES DOWN TO:
The iphones apps
vs
The others with much better cameras

The Samsung Omnia is overall the best phone... It is getting apps like the iphone and it has a much better camera. The rest of the phone is about the same.

PERSONALLY:
I would rather have a good camera on me at all times rather than apps that make shotgun noises and a level to see if my table is stable/level. So many times i have not had my digital camera with me and i wanted to take a picture of something. NEVER have i ever said... gee i wish i had the apple iphone so i could you "name of an app" right now... Most of the apps are simply better versions of pre-loaded apps on all phones. EX: scientific calculator instead of regular calculator... why do i need to know the square root of 23049598376674 rite this second? i dont... i can wait till i get home. But i cant wait till i get home to come back and take a picture of a bird, something funny thats happening... those cant wait... the iphone can.

CAMERA > APPS = If you dont agree... get the iphone

  The iPhone revolution
Review created: 01/14/09
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

One can get the specs for these phones anywhere so I'll just offer my personal opinion on this entire phenomenon.

On a whole the iPhone is an enjoyable multi faceted gadget. It operates pretty much without glitch, is fairly quick in terms of response time and is certainly up there with the best in terms of technological advancement.

Do not however be caught up in the hype. This is not the best gadget since the invention of the wheel and it could be and will get better.

If you do your home work and do not absolutely HAVE TO have an apple device, you will find there are a whole slew of phones out there that already have higher specs, feature for feature, with newer and more dazzling technologies on the horizon. For instance you can already buy, in Europe and the states, phones with 8MP cameras onboard aside from other advanced functionality. There are also a large number of very similar devices with touch screen capability and onboard operating systems.

There is a technology race on and Apple is only one competitor.

I own an iPhone 3G and have also owned numerous other smart phones so I'm going to tell it to you straight. Expect a new version before the end of this year with amongst the new line up an improved camera. Expect also the price in contract terms to come down with a contract free version very likely.

The true triumph of the iPhone is the way it has stirred up a sense of innovation and originality and for that I have to give it credit.

Awesome everything about it and can do an endless amount of things with this phone. Phone talk quality lacks but is still nothing so bad to cause frustration when talking on the phone. Screen is great and lock ensures that there is no longer any pocket dialing. The phone is fast and a superior product when compared to other phones even now long after release.

  very good condicion

I bought the use iphone three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive phone. It has a 1M-pixel camera, video camera, and speakerphone. The NewPhone's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan of roughly 4 hours. My only complaint is that the menu system on the phone makes you click four times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions. Other phones I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.
