Lumix DMC-FZ28: Astoundingly good camera.

The FZ28 is neither your typical point-and-shoot, nor is it a DSLR. It combines some of the best traits of each class: it has a highly capable Intelligent Auto (iA) mode, which will take great pictures even if all you know is how to press the shutter button. Heck, with its great image stabilization and solid grip, you don't even have to hold the camera still </hyberbole>. On the other hand, if you want to get more involved in the shooting process or you don't want to lug around a DSLR, the FZ28 will accommodate you. The FZ28 allows you full manual control, with shutter speeds from 1/1000s to 60s, and its astounding lens gives you both a 27mm equivalent wide-angle and and 18x zoom, with relatively wide apertures of f2.8 and f4.4 at wideangle and telephoto ends. It can also has a decent continuous-shooting mode.
That said, the FZ28 does not have the pocketability of a a point-and-shoot, nor does it have the high-ISO performance of a DSLR. If you are aware of these limitations and willing to accept them, though, the FZ28 is an enormously versatile, enormously useful camera.
