Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires....
Review created: 09/25/09(updated 09/25/09)

At first glance this game was closer to what I wanted to see from any Dynasty Warriors Empires game. The ability to create about a hundred Custom characters with alot of detail to how they look and the ability to change the pitch and tone of their voice, to unlock alot of outfits for them, To be a ruler, officer or vagrant mercenary. The ability to swear oaths, befriend other officers, get married and so on.
But then reality set in. When I beat the game the first time I was level 41. I thought cool next time I play I will max my guy out. NOT TRUE!! I lost my level and so did every other officer. All I could keep was my weapon and horse... Next time I played I was level 1 again... And even died in 2 hits to a Second Class Officer in SUPER UBER GLOWY RED MODE because he inspired himself somehow...by saying some lame comment that would not inspire me enough to eat my favorite food TACOS...
People say it would be to easy to keep levels in this game. NO DUH, the point for me is to gain power and strength and then be greater then before. I like getting powerful. If I wanted to I could later work on 1 of 99 other created officers or one of the MANY MANY MANY MANY in game officers. The challenge comes from moving to harder modes of gameplay it goes from Easy - Chaos. That's where the game gets challenging. But Koei for some reason took out the ability to keep levels. I hate that. I based getting my PS3 entirely on this game and I failed. For I did not research the level factor. I assumed that it would be like Dynasty Warriors 4 Empires, Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires and Samurai Warriors 2 Empires where you gain and keep your levels. I am sorely dissapointed. I suggest if you love Dynasty warrior games to Stick with the older ones if you wanna try this game go ahead. But Do not expect to keep levels, gems, gold or get 1000KO titles or anything like that. You can after playing enough get some Points to continue to keep your weapons and horses and start with some gold and get a few gems but its not as good as keeping all you earned and saved while playing. And honestly I still have yet to get oath brothers in game OR figure out that entire officer marriage thing. its not as simple as it says when I read how to achieve them.
if you love hack and slash games then it may be fun. Even more so if you can get a friend to play with you. BUT in order to have a friend play as an officer or vagrant with you, you have to befriend an officer before he can play or start as a ruler with some officers you picked to join you then choose step down.
All in all I love Dynasty/Samurai Warriors games. But I cannot afford to buy a NEW PS2 to play the old games not that I have many left I sold them to save for my PS3. And my PS3 cannot play PS2 games anyway... So I am left with Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires... Which is more work then relaxing. I would rather keep my levels then have to level myself over and over and over every time I play the game.
Pros:
Nice Graphics
Lots of Created Character slots
Lots of Character Customization
Has Co-Op game play
A lot of mercenary Missions
Decent Viewing Distance in game
Ability to Change voice pitch and tone
Decently Large Maps
Cons:
Unable to keep Levels
Some main characters have the "same Weapon Fighting Styles"
Unable to just find horses as far as I can tell outside of buying them.
Second Class Characters in game can kill you in a few hits.
Annoying one liners over and over when you kill an officer
No versus mode
