Kodak EASYSHARE Z8612 IS 8.1 Megapixel

Very nice camera, that takes great pictures. The zoom is wonderful, however this camera eats battery's. Standard battery's are good for about ten pictures. Buy the best battery's you can, that are rechargable!

What I dislike about this camera is that after using it maybe 5 or 6 times, it has totaly became deceased! Already! I do like the pictures it took when working. What I didn't like was all the chattering it was doing at me. ???? What is this? Well, apparently, it was being rebellious and I thought the focus was just overactive. And yes. I have already put a new battery in just in case that was the problem. (5 or 6 times...maybe an hour to an hour and a half tops of use.) Sigh.
So, after the week-end, I am going to have to send it in. My old Soni takes good pictures too. At least it didn't quit on me in less than 2 months! It's still working faithfully after 8 years! And I was so looking forward to carrying something lighter.
I would advise extreme caution when purchasing one of these! I am extremely disappointed.

Have had it less than 24 hours and still learning about the extra features of the camera. However, as far taking pics, it is ready to go out of the box! Very easy to use the basic fuctions. The pics are clear with great color that I have taken! This camera gives you the best of both worlds, the ease of a basic point and shoot along with professional features. Love it!

hardest to do so far is putting on the camera strap....LOL

The Kodak Z8612is is a great little high-zoom digital camera, but that's about it.
After using this camera for a few weeks, learning it's in's and out's, I'm quite disappointed. I really expected a lot from Kodak since they DO make photography supplies and such. Overall this is a good camera for the money. It's not exactly going to blow any one away with it's awesome features and control. This camera lacks the ability to control the "plane of focus" which would give it a truly SLR feel. I bought this camera because it has a high zoom and great color quality even at VERY far distances. I love the very simple design of the camera because so many people don't expect that much from it, but when they see my pictures that's a different story. The processing on this camera is VERY VERY slow. It takes AGES to stitch pictures together and when you go into multi-up view (where you review multiple pictures in a thumbnail view) that takes FOREVER to come up, and once it's up, it takes forever for you to scroll around since the pics are loading so slowly. I also realized how much I HATE Kodak's "burst modes"- I think they should just give us a real burst mode instead of a last 4 and first 4 saved kind of thing.

PROS: High Zoom, Easy to Use, VERY clean design (I love it, it's so simple.)
great pop-up flash, great color quality (even at far distances), and Clean video recording.

CONS: Slow processing, No FULL Focal control, Eats Batteries for BREAKFAST, No Hot Shoe, ""Burst"" Mode SUCKS, and Slow Focusing leading to over/under exposures.

I bought the Kodak Easyshare Z8612 IS 8.1 Megapixel Camera about 3 weeks ago. This camera has exceeded my expectations. The HD quality pictures turn out beautiful. The camera is very easy to use and also has a wonderful video feature with sound. I don't even need a camcorder anymore! I have absolutely no complaints about this camera. If you are looking for a nice camera for an affordable price, this is the one!!

The price for both the camera and the printer was comparable to what I would buy the same camera alone at a retail store. What's more, I had gotten 5 bonus items to include 8 GB SD memory card, a cleaning kit and a small tripod. I would buy again from seller!!!

As far as the sale goes: Perfect, smooth transaction. Got exactly what I thought I was getting and it was shipped promptly. I would definitely buy from the seller again.

As far as the camera goes: Exactly what was expected and more. It's only been a matter of days at this point, but I'll clearly be able to do everything that I was hoping to and more. Right out of the box with the standard "point and shoot" setting pictures are spectacular quality from near or far. The panormic picture mold has got to be the coolest thing I've ever seen and I'm certain that with all the settings and options, there wont' be anything I want to take pictures of that won't give me the best quality. The only downside I can see so far is the batteries; I don't know why they (Kodak or any other manufacturer) wouldn't sell these things with a rechargable battery and charger. At least the Kodak uses something better than regular alkaline, but I'll be planning to buy rechargable before we have this too long!

NOTE: This doesn't bother me, but beware that this camera DOES NOT have a regular view finder. It's the LCD screen only. It's adjustable and you can buy sun shadees for it, but if you are used to or really want a regular camera view finder than this one isn't for you.

GREAT CAMERA,ME AND MY WIFE HAVE TWO OF THESE. WE USE THEM IN PARANORMAL RESEARCH. THEY TAKE GREAT NIGHT TIME PHOTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have purchased a few cameras over the years, but this one tops them all. For ease of operation,and picture quality it is definately the best so far.

This is my first kodak digital camera, The outside design of this camera is to older to me, but and I am not disappointed with the quality of this camera, This camera takes greats pictures under every light condition, has a large optical zoom... and the auto shoot option is very simple (for people that don`t understand too much about advanced photo options, like me jeje), I recomended to buy this camera ;)). I hope my comments will be helpfull!!

This is a fantastic camera for a beginner to intermediate photography enthusiast who doesn't have the cash to spend on a big ticket digital camera. It's reaction time is fantastic. As other reviews I've seen note, the camera does take a second to save the picture to memory, but you get the picture you saw and that is the important part. I have tested it on moving subjects and its image stabilization is fantastic. Some have noted that they are annoyed by the fact that the lens cap pops off automatically when the camera turns on. However, if you look in your box and read the first couple pages of the instruction manual you will see that there is a tether for the lens cap and if you attach said tether you will both never have to worry about removing your lens cap to catch a picture nor will you lose your lens cap.
You'll note that I mentioned this is a great camera for the photography enthusiast, not for a photographer. If you fancy yourself a photographer you are not going to find everything you want/need in a camera for 200 or less dollars. It just isn't happening. I saw this camera recently at Walmart for 129 dollars and for that money you can't beat a 12x optical zoom with these features. It isn't a sleek and shiny camera, but if you're looking to impress your audience with the way your camera looks rather than the pictures it takes then I would recommend something cheap and colorful.

All in all, a great camera.

This is a remaufactured digital camera, so I wasn't expecting a miracle; how ever, it performs well, and everything seems to work perfectly. The surplus items that were included in the kit were very helpful, however it takes a special kind of battery, and I had to order it on line at Amazon. The double "A" batteries included with the camera weren't compatible with the camera. These fact didn't mar my overall satisifation with the deal; they are merely a hinderance, and nothing more.
I purchased the camera in the first place because it was a very good price, and I needed a "fill-in" camera. The only drawback, as I see it, is that the camera doesn't have a view finder, and sometimes it's hard to see the LCD screen in direct sunlight.

Everything was perfect, what a great dealer, This is the second purchase from these folks and we couldn't be more satisfied.
