Episode 3 of the 4-part Phantasy Star ONLINE series. This chapter was made Exclusivly for GameCube and was a depature from the Action/RPG elements of the other 3 chapters. This chapter combiines Card Elements with Turn-based RPG Missions. It has a Great Story and Beautiful Artwork but some players may find it boreing. The Online servers go down April 2007, BUT there is progress on Free Private Servers supporting it, just look for Schthack's.

Well, I haven't finished it yet, but it is pretty good. The storyline is developed by talking to ingame characters, which is rather unique, because most games start out with like a prologue type thing. Instead of the average "kill all the monster" game, you have to initiate in battles, where you use cards, to summon monsters to fight for you, or equip items. The combinations get a little challenging, but with a little patience, you eventually get it. In conclusion, I give this game an 8, out of 10.

It's just good if you're the one playing it. I mean, just watching it is really boring, but if you sit down and play it, it's really fun and you like it. I used to watch my sisters and dad play it all the time. I thought they were stupid for liking something that looked so dumb. But I got bored one day and sat down to play it with my oldest sister. i liked it a lot. Now I play it quite a bit. Well, not so much as to take away all of my time. There are things I'd rather do than play a video game, but that's because I'm not a video game person. For a video game freak, you'll love it!

Decent game if you like CCG's. A little slow on the GC.

I bought this title originally because I like Phantasy Star Online and I like CCG's like Magic: The Gathering and Illuminati. The game play is pretty standard turn based play. There is a role-playing element in that you have to walk around and talk to the NPC's to unlock some critical missions and progress in the game. Like a CCG you have to create decks of cards (you start with a few and win a few after each mission) that are used to attack your opponents. There are two factions in the game, Dark and Light, with Light using technology and Dark using mutated animals.

Aside from being a little slow moving, PSOIII:Card Revolution is a good game. In my house there is someone from just about every age group playing and enjoying the game. There are 5, 7, 11, 14, 16, 32 and 44 year olds playing the game. So if you like PSO and you like CCG's, I think you will probably like this game.

  Nice attempt on card based....
Review created: 10/30/09

The game has a good story no matter which side you choose. The only thing is you never really get the whole story unless you know which characters to send on the battlefield or if you look it up somewhere online. If you don't trigger all the cut-scenes you might find yourself lost as far as the story line goes.

The card based game-play could have been done a lot better. The monotone voice that tells what "phase" it is can put you to sleep and the rolling of a die is just numbers that appear on the screen. Visually the card based game play is boring. It is simple though which can be a plus for a few but a curse for others.

The graphics are as wonderful as ever. You can't not like the graphics of the Phantasy Star Online Series. The music is also great as always.

Even though the card based gameplay could have been done better it is a fun game, if you can get yourself online with a private server you are in for a whole lot more fun than if you stay offline.

Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution

It's a great game for those who enjoy card games or strategy games especially since its combined with a 3D playing field with great visuals and music. This game also has a very unique play style with one side using weapons to fight and the other summoning monsters. The game also has an interesting storyline and multiplayer.

It seems though that the graphics were used from the original Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 & 2 which is essentially a revamped version of the Dreamcast game, meaning that the characters and monsters appearance aren't any different from back then. If you can get past this small flaw the game is very enjoyable.

Not the best, but not the worst

I like the Phantasy Star games, and I've played episode I and part of II. I must say though, ep III detracted a lot of the enjoyable aspects of the first two episodes, so I only played it enough to get though the Hunters and Arks stories. It doesn't have replay value like ep I & II does, but if you like the franchise by all means buy, rent (if possible), or borrow the game, but don't put a lot of money into it. It's not worth buying it at or near the original game price or higher. Major differences include, valueless level system (meaning your leveling up will not increase your chances of winning a fight), it's a turn based strategy game (instead of real-time), you can't use the character you make in battle, the majority of the time you put into the game will be for obtaining cards and creating decks for all of your characters, and you can't obtain meseta, so you can't buy cards to expand your collection. If you want to have some action packed fun, get a different game. (v.v) But, if you like the franchise, and want to experience PSO in a different way, you might want to give it a shot.

  Phantasy Star Online: Ep. 3

It's a great game, lots of fun to play, with a Mediocre story line (like every PSO game so far.) It will not play online on the Wii, so people that are selling it need to stop saying it will. The story mode works fine, but the MMO part of the game doesn't function.
