Sawdust by Killers (US) (The) (CD, Nov-2007, American Recordings USA)

I already had most of these songs except for about 4 or 5, but the ones I did have, many were either re-tracked or sung live, so technically they were different. I highly recommend this album. If you liked Hot Fuss or Sam's Town, there are tracks on "Sawdust" reminiscent of both albums. The covers like "Shadowplay" (Joy Division) ... "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town" (Kenny Rogers) ... and "Romeo and Juliet" (Dire Straits) all embody sounds not common on most Killers tracks. You have everything on this album ... the songs meant for you like right off the bat "Where The White Boys Dance" & "Sweet Talk" and then the tracks that will grow on you "Daddy's Eyes" or "Tranquilize." This is a great album. Definitely worth purchasing new or second/third-hand via ebay/Half.com. If you haven't heard much of The Killers music before, I think this is a great introduction to the band, and a chance to see what an amazing variety of music these talented guys can create. Do it man ... just do it.

If you are a killers fan [this excludes those who only like mr. brightside and when you were young because those are the only songs they have heard from this band], you will mos tlikely appreciate this cd of b-sides. A couple of the songs, like "under the gun", "daddy's eyes", and "tranquilize" are reminiscent of the big hits on hott fuss and sams town, but many are less catchy and "single-esque" such as "sam's town (abbey road version)" and romeo and juliet. The killers also cover two songs on this cd, "shadowplay" and "romeo and juliet". The average listener might no tlike this cd as much as the Killer's other two previous cds, but a true killers fan will love every minute of the cd. It shows many different sides of the killers because the songs are a collection of b-sides and weren't all written at the same time in the killers career. I personally loved this cd.

I love the style of the killers. This album is so far my favorite. The first album I bought was Hot Fuss;it was a little too club-ish for me. Sawdust is a great cd for a mood changer!

i expected a worse cd than the past killers because that's what happens to folloowing albums but this one really measured up and was amazing i highly recomend it its' great.

It has been looking bleak for "traditional" Rock n' Roll for some time now. Friends that should know better have announced it's death. But, I don't care what they say- Rock n" roll is here to stay. Thank god for the Killers & other bands out there, who play their own instruments & write their own music. This album has a great collection of their music (The Killers, that is) & has an appearance by Lou Reed- what more testament do you need than that? Yes, there are still bands out there making great, even important music. Check out the Mister Brightside video on U-tube.

This is a really great CD by The Killers. It has more mellow songs, including an acoustic version of a song from the "Sam's Town" album (sorry, I can't remember the name of the song!). Overall, I am very happy with this CD, and would recommend it to any fan of The Killers. Enjoy!

Good collection of b-sides from the Killers. Includes a fun cover of Kenny Rogers' "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town." The Killers sound best when they're not taking themselves too seriously.

I dont really like to go too much into detail but I'll just break it down into pros and cons.

PROS:
-17 Tracks
-Great Variety of songs and re-makes
-Love the Romeo & Juliet cover that was by the Dire Straits
-Almost all of the songs are catchy in someway or another
-Mix of both HOTFUSS and SAM'S TOWN albums!!!

CONS:
-A few of the songs are less than 3 minutes long
-The Hidden Track is more like a 10sec. medley and not really a track
-The Remix of Mr.Brightside is a little odd

this is a great item!! everyone should purchase a copy and give it a listen. you won't be disappointed!!!
