great phone, even two years old

The Palm brand was the first real attempt to make a Pocket PC truly user friendly. The 750 was the first attempt in adapting the functions of Windows Mobile with the Palm user ease. Although other products have since come out which are flasher, with bigger screens, etc, the Treo 750 was the first. It has a good combination of touch screen and full keyboard, while still fitting into your pocket. Plus it has great features, 3G WIFI, decent camera, etc.

This phone is a great choice for the person who wants all of the functions of a Pocket PC with the usability of a phone at a great price. Even though it is a few years old, it is still ahead of several of its competitors current offerings.

  Great Phone

I'm extremely tough on phones. This is one phone that takes a beating and keeps on beeping. I've destroyed the screen on one but they're easy enough to replace. If you look around online you can upgrade this to WM 6.1 and it will accept large SDHC cards. I've got an 8gig one in mine now and it works great. I replaced my treo 750 with an ATT Tilt/HTC Kaiser/TYTN2 and still went back to my Treo.

Even though the keys on the Tilt/TytnII/Kaiser are bigger than the Treo's- it's much easier typing on the Treo. Plus, the treo is optimized to be used with one hand, without using the touchscreen, but its still handy to have the touchscreen.

It's no iphone, but i'd be willing to bet anyone could type faster on this than the iphone, especially without looking at the keyboard.

And at less than 80 bucks outright, they're a STEAL. Theres still plenty life left in a Treo 750!

Treo 750 more than a phone
Review created: 03/31/09

I previously owned a Palm Treo and I loved it. When I decided to upgrade my phone I knew it had to be a Palm. The thing that I like about my Palm is that I can have my music, books, games, bible, word processor, camera, and a phone all in one device. This is very useful for me. It is esentially a palm size computer plus more.

There are a few draw backs to the palm. The phone does not have an off button. It will go on into a offline mode where you can access your files but won't cause interference in sensitive areas but that is it. It would be nice to be able to turn it off to save battery on those days you forget to charge it. As long as I charge it everynight I do not have a problem with the battery draining.

One of the things that I love is the ability to add an external keyboard. It gives you the freedom of typing on an actual keyboard. This is great when you are working on documents.

Another reason that I love the palm treo 750 is because it has a touch screen. Unlike some of the other touch screens that rely on heat to activate the Palm relies on touch. I can use my fingernails or a stylus. With long nails it is very difficult on some of the other touch screen phones but I am able to do it with ease.

I love my palm treo.

I don't like that I have to use Outlook to utilize the calendar feature on the phone. I liked the Treo 680 better because there was nothing linking the calendar to an outside software. I had to find outlook and download it to my computer. I had my phone a while before anyone could even tell me that I had to have Outlook on my computer for the contacts and dates to transfer. Then I had to uninstall the Treo 680 and reinstall and have it sync with Outlook. It was just a big pain in the butt.

  Best Device Low Memory

The Treo 750 offers very good performance with a new CPU, an improved camera, enhanced video playback, a more solid Bluetooth implementation in a lighter, slimmer
Overall a solid performer with some great features but the lack of new technology and flair let it down substantially

Best Device, Low Memory, need WiFi, Has MS Office,

This phone really does it all. There is nothing out there (iphone, storm, etc etc) that this phone cant match in function.. It is sturdy, easy to use, functional, and all of the thousands of free applications make it really one of the best phones out there for the money.. I am a doctor and I would be lost without this little gadget... I use it for everything from navigation to Epocrates (pharmacy guide on the phone)..

You will love this phone... I promise...

bought the NewPhone 74205 three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive phone. It has a 1M-pixel camera, video camera, and speakerphone. The NewPhone's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan of roughly 4 hours. My only complaint is that the menu system on the phone makes you click four times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions. Other phones I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.

  It's Quite Different
Review created: 10/07/09

The Palm Treo 750 was quite different from the previous version. Instead of a Palm operating system, it has a Windows Mobile which means, instead of using the HotSync with Palm OS, you use the MediaSync of Windows. I am not quite used to it yet. Furthermore, the buttons and hot keys are difficult to use. There is no "BACK" button. I end up closing one application to get to another application and it's time consuming. The punctuation marks are selectively fewer on the keypad and the on-screen keyboard is confusing and does not have all the characters as in a standard keyboard. One of the things that I like is that the files from my computer are readily opened within the Palm withouot converting them to "palm" (*.pdb or *.prc) files.

  Treo 750 Review
Review created: 10/06/09
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I previously had a treo 650 and aside from the frequent resets and power off issues, I may have been content to continue using it.

I read all the reviews before selecting the 750, and I must say that most have been right on.

If you've had other treo's, for example the 680 which did not have many of the problems which I experienced with the 650, you may feel like you've taken a step backwards with the 750. I cannot say this with certainty because of my experience only with the treo 650, but I will say that the Palm OS seems to be an operating system that anyone could stumble through.

The Windows OS is a bit more difficult to navigate, primarily because you need to find the correct operating file or folder in order to customize/personalize many of the features. When you know how to navigate through the system, the differences are really a wash.

I really like the Windows Media Player on the 750; with the 650, I had to convert everything to Real Player format before my device recognized the music files. Simply transferring music files from my PC to my 750 mobile was a breeze and a simple search of your storage card results in all the music being transfered into Windows Media Player.

Windows OS makes setting up personal email accounts, with corresponding notifications, a breeze; and 3G compatability makes the 750 mobile downloads two or three times faster than I experienced with my 650.

That said, however, there are a number of shareware/freeware sites that offer downloads for Palm OS, and not so many for the 750 Windows OS. If you've grown to love the versatility that a mobile device can offer with all its application, this is a downside for this device.

I had read that the screen resolution decreased from the 650 which is 320x240 to the 750 which is 240x240, but I must say that on a 2 1/2 inch screen , the difference is negligible.

The camera on the 750, while only 1.3 mp, it much better than the VGA on my 650. Colors and lighting are noticibly better on the 750.

Speaker volume on the handset is lacking, much like the 650, but VolumeCare doesn't appear to offer an upgrade for the Windows OS yet.

I love the internal antenae of the 750, and the overall feel with the rubberized skin of the 750 makes the large size of the device deceptive.

All in all, I do think that the 750 is an upgrade, at least to the 650. I'm no techie, but this device was easy to use from the start, and after a couple of days familiarizing myself with the Windows OS, I feel that I got a great phone at a great price.

  Purchase of Palm Treo 750
Review created: 11/03/09
by:

I purchased a Palm Treo 750. Item arrived promptly and in excellent condition. I really like this PDA, the only problem with is that it will sometimes freeze up, and will not allow anything to function. Minor? Maybe not, but the device functions very well and has allowed me to do what I wanted a PDA for: download documents and search for information I need in my profession. The stacking of functions can be a bit cumbersome, and the ability to inadvertantly engage a phone call is problematic, but is remedied by the keyguard. Overall impression: I like the phone, It does what is ways it will and I did not have to pay 500 Bucks for an Iphone.

I have had a few PDAs/PEO (Personal Entertainment Organizers) over the last several years. Finally there is one that does it all besides one thing, WIFI. It is 2009 and no phone should be without it. If it were not for the lack of wifi I would give this phone an excellent rating.

Everything came according to what was established.
My big problem was that it did not come with the CD which is ABSOLUTELY INDISPENSABLE to well set up the telephone.
It was NOT in the deal, so is not their problem, but, when buying something it should come at least, with the most essential...
Also, I asked them to tell me where should I buy it, with NO response...
My fault, anyway.
No complaints.
