A must have for any fan!
Review created: 12/09/09

This DVD is a must have for anyone who is a baseball fan. With the low listing prices now on ebay, it is a very good deal for all the shows each disc contains. As a gift for my father, I am sure he will think of this as his favorite gift. This is not just clips of highlights, these volumes contain actual shows that aired back in the day. Bringing back memories of a more simpler time is invaluable.

  How the game should be
Review created: 03/05/09

This is a great piece of baseball history and gives the viewer some face time with some of the best to ever swing a bat. I suggest anyone who love the game and misses steroid free home run hitting buy it and see how they did it back when the only vice that was a secret was heavy drinking.

  Homerun Derby

I bought home run derby as a Christmas present that my family could give to me as a present. The video was exactly the shows I was looking for. It reminded me of the real superstars of my childhood. It was Ernie Banks, Mickey Mantle, and Willie Mays just as if they were playing today.

  Great old show

To see and hear these great old sluggers was a real treat. For a show done in 1959 the filming is pretty good. Mickey starts of a little hesitant in the begining with his comments but gets better with each show. The sound of the bat when they make contact leaves no dougtht that it is a homer

Home Run Derby - Vol 1 (2007, DVD)

I bought this DVD to enjoy one of my favorite TV shows of the late 50's. The baseball stars looked young and in their prime as I remember them. They talk candidly about themselves and are not actually interviewed like pre-game or post-game shows of today. I suppose my only dislike was that the original commercials were not included.

  HOME RUN DERBY

I purchased this DVD Vol 1 and 2 for the great historical look back at beleivable baseball stars. The setting at Wrigley field in LA the home of the LA Angels in the PCL and for one year in the American League. The announcer from the Hollywood Stars brings back lots of memories of the PCL. The banter and inside talk by all the greats has not been duplicated. This series is for every collector.

Great DVD for a true baseball fan

I bought the Home Run Derby Volume 1 DVD for my husband for his birthday. He is a true baseball fan and remembers watching the Home Run Derby when he was a child. The quality of the picture was excellent. It was interesting to see famous players sit and talk to the commentator while the other player batted. I recommend this DVD for any baseball fan. It is a fun family night too. The grandchildren like to hear about the players from grandpa.

I remember watching these shows as a youngster. Eventually, ESPN started showing them a few years ago. I have been waiting for them to come out on DVD. I have been a Yankees fan for over 45 years, and as it turns out, the first one released is mostly about the great Mickey Mantle. I love the DVD. The clarity and sound is excellent. I highly recommend it to any real baseball fan!

Simply amazing to see the baseball Heroes of the past and seeing them swing the bat and compete with fellow Hall of Famers. It is great to see that and then the interviews as the other player is swinging for the fences. Having never seen many of these Hall of Famers player, it allowed me to see some great swings and get a glimps of their personalties. I have really enjoyed watching this glimps at the past.
