i purchase this movie thinking it would be good but i wasnt that impressed it was average a boy goes crazy over a book that was stolen buy a girl, the girl who stole the book in love with it through out the whole movie everyone who reads the book actually likes it the girl who stole the book also loses it and when the owner of the book comes to reclaim it and she tells him he doesn't have it so their crazy and weird adventure begans to look for it ,when they do find it he doesn't want it anymore so to me the movie was AVERAGE!

Good Show and amusing much of the time
Review created: 02/04/10

In my opinion this was a pretty good show. It's about a college dude living in the basement of a frat house, who never goes to class or reads his assignments, but still enjoys a college life. He has "deep" random thoughts and writes some of them down in "the book" with shinny metal front and back covers. Some Klepto dudette steals his book and loses it to the janitor, who finds out he is receiving signals in his mind from outer space. The (spaceman) janitor loses the book to some clods who run a on campus store, who in turn make copies of "the book" and try to sell it while playing some board game. Poor old Bicford spends much of the movie searching for his book, only to realize nothing matters, because he accidently killed his mother a while back. So he quits writing in the book and gives it back to the store guys as long as they don't sell copies for $$$. Some parts of this movie are amusing sometimes. ++

Underrated comedy skates on real philosophic issues
Review created: 12/11/09

Patrick Fugit is like Jake Gyllenhall was, an actor who presents what -- on superficial glance -- seems to be a bland performance but whose talents live below the surface and make the character full and actual. And the director is amazing... confined to a wheelchair with ALS, he still delivers comedy (gotta laugh to keep from crying?). Comedy with, as I said, an undercurrent of complex issues. And doesn't make them sophomoric stoner thoughts even if the setting is college student stoners. Again, Patrick Fugit is a talented actor -- I recommend WRISTCUTTERS, an even quirkier and fascinating movie about a siucide's afterlife.
