I love how this game introduces all the charicters of the game in chapters 1-4. Definitely better than any other Dragon Warrior game. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the DW series or just a rpg gamer in general. I give it 5 out of 5 for (at the time) graphics, gameplay, music, and replayability. I have played the game from beginning to end more than 10 times. A lot of fun and an in depth game for it's time.

Probably the best RPG for the Nintendo. IV small quests before the huge final quest, in which you must find all the adventures of the previous quests. This game came out in "92" I remember it boasting a pretty hevy price tag back then, about $65 to $75 bucks. I probably should have just bought the game back then because i spent alot of money renting it from the local grocery store. If you were or still are a fan of final fantasy, dont let a copies of this pass you buy. Oh! one more thing you won't find this game on any other console,(well execpt in Japan) not even a reissue with better graphics or anything.
Chow!

this happens to be the best in the dragon warrior series in my opinon dragon warrior IV is a new story that does not continue off the erdrick saga(I-III) this time the game is split into chapters and play a buch of different characters in the first few chapters and in the last chapter you get to play your character and unite with the characters you played in the previous chapters to fight the ultimate evil this is a rare gem for anyone's nes collection i would recommend this to a nes owner but for someone who has nintendo ds i would get that version for a little smaller price tag

The definative RPG. With incredible games like Witcher Enhanced and new Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior IV paved the way for RPG innovation and depth. The game is simply one of the very best and belongs in every serious collectors library of games.
Getting it on E-Bay made the whole thing a win-win!

  Wonderful collection!

I'm SO glad that I purchased this Dragon Warrior collection. When I saw it up for grabs, it was an immediate 'must have.' I'll be on the prowl for more collections like this..., as opposed to other's "collections" that include Barney & Friends, Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers, Barbie's Favorite Horses along titles that I really care about. More power to people who sell GENRES as, once again, opposed to a 'collection' that includes one or two good games. Thanks again, lovely strangers who know who their buyers are!!

  Absolutely amazing RPG
Review created: 07/28/08

Dragon Warrior IV debuted in North America in '92, as one of, if not the best RPG on the NES. As the final Dragon Warrior on the beloved NES and with the richest game play, compelling story, and memorable characters out of all of them so far, it is highly sought after.

The story is broken up into five chapters. The first four each detailing the adventures of the main Hero's (your) future companions; in the fifth the player searches for those in previous chapters to go on a journey that legends are made of. A classic battle of 'good vs. evil', revenge, mystery, hope, and restoration; with a cast of characters you'll not soon forget: from a soldier of a great country, to a merchant father and husband, to a princess, to dancers and fortune tellers.

The game play is just like most other RPGs, turn based battles that reward exp, gold, and sometimes items at the end which the player uses to level up or purchase items. However, Dragon Warrior IV brings something to the table that most other RPGs don't have: the "Tactics" option.

With this, the player can give the other characters (those met in chapters 1-4) set orders on how to battle. Whether it be strictly "offense", "defense", "save MP" (Magic Points), or just "try out". (This lets the other characters experiment with their attacks.) This innovation would later be used in Dragon Quest V and VI. It's really fun to be able to play around with the "Tactics" and it adds in some cases, to the level of difficulty.

Dragon Warrior IV is very well known for even further expounding the world and game play than the previous titles, this game is absolutely huge. Loads of items, spells, towns, areas, and dungeons to use and explore.

At the time of the release, not much had improved graphic wise over Dragon Warrior III, but that's okay, because these are still amazing for the time. (Some bosses even have very fluid movement that will give you the willies.)

The music is some of the best in the series at the time and still is epic and mood setting. Really, you'll want this pumped up.

This game is simply amazing and worth shelving out the cash for. You shouldn't have any regrets purchasing it, highly recommended.

  Brings back memories...

I was one of those kids that never got any of the NES gear that I asked for each year at christmas... Eventually, I had to save up to buy my own system, thinking that I would let mom and dad off the hook, and just buy me games...NOPE!

For over 15 years all I had was the mario/duck hunt cart that came with my system. I would rent a game, or borrow a friend's game to play it...

For everyone that loves the modern role playing games of todays gaming consoles, Dragon Warrior is one of the games that started it all! Love it! -Dew

  Dragon Warrior 4 IV
Review created: 01/26/08

One of the most in depth all time classic RPG's for the NES (Nintendo). The 4th and last in the NES line of Dragon Warrior games. There is a strategy guide and a rare world map that can be found for this game as well. I suggest you get them to really have a chance at mastering this game.

the game is really long and has a great story to it! i love the music!!! the music is so soothing, even in 8-bit sound, but better in a symphonic suite. i decided to buy it because it is one of the rarest games for the nes! and it would have completed my dragon warrior collection. the thing i disliked most about the game was getting it for a good price. i probably spent about $100, maybe more, to get it complete and in mint condition by buying everything separetely.

Dragon Warrior IV: - A Heavenly Sequel
Review created: 07/11/08
by: jeremy1456-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Games

Pros:
Huge World, Long Quest, Interesting Characters and Gameplay Mechanics, Great Atmosphere

Cons:
Character A.I. is Lacking

Dragon Quest is one of the single most influential gaming series in the world. After a stunning and amazing third sequel on the NES Enix saw it fit to continue with the console for a fourth game. Dragon Warrior IV (or Dragon Quest IV as it's known as in Japan) had a lot to live up to, being the sequel to the greatest RPG of it's time and all. Though a slightly different route was taken with this game it still lives up to the lineage, and it's still worth playing even today. Dragon Warrior IV The story concerns a legend of a hero from the sky that will one day save the world in it's darkest...

Pros:
Five unique chapters, very interesting characters!

Cons:
Graphics and sound are VERY outdated.

DRAGON WARRIOR IV (Enix, October 1992) Although the Dragon Warrior (or Dragon Quest) series is one of the most popular set of video games in Japan, very few gamers actually got the chance to play these great Role Playing Games over here and that's too bad. It certainly doesn't make much cents since Dragon Warrior IV is easily one of the best RPG's on the mega popular NES. Here is a look back at one of most underrated games in the 8-bit era. This very popular Japanese series takes a very unique turn in part 4 here. Instead one giant single quest, you play several different stories in one huge..

Beautifully crafted RPG that stands the test of time.
Review created: 02/16/06

Pros:
Perhaps the greatest video game ever made.

Cons:
Out of print.

Dragon Warrior IV was released in 1992 as the start of a new trilogy in the Dragon Warrior saga. It showcased new elements that weren't found in console RPGs. This game has stood the test of time and deserves a quality review. The game has a unique chapter system, not found in many RPGs. Broken into 5 chapters, the first 4 focus on the lives of the friends of the hero, who isn't playable until chapter 5. Each chapter gets larger and more difficult. Players will stumble across NPCs (non-playable characters) who will assist them on their way. This game is heavily reliant on random enemy...
