At first i wasn't certian i'd enjoy this game because of the drastic changes that have been made. However it was a big surprise just how capcom had managed to keep the resident evil touch running. In fact i think this game is scarier than most if not all resident evils because it feels like your really there wandering the halls of the Spencer Estate or the bowels of Raccoon City underground. The game is also a good begginers experince because you got basically all the resident evil story so begginers can understand the complex story easily and in one go. The game is split into several stages each covering a part of the resident evil story. Another important factor is this game is the first resident evil to be 2 players which makes that much more iluring.
TRAIN DERAILMENT
This is the first stage which basically covers all the zero story with out all the complex puzzels or key finding. You dont fight all the bosses you would in the standard version but you still get the story and its great fun.
MANSION INDCENT
This covers all resident evil one and surprisngly keeps most of the story and retain almost all the big scenes like the boss battles like with the snake and plant 4s not to mention the T-002 Tryant.
RACCOONS DESTRUCTION
This is a level based around the events of Resent Evil 3 however it is very different from the game resedent evil 3. But although it at first it may seem dispointing it picks it self up with a brillant and scary trip to Raccoon Citys underground and a fantastic battle with the nemmis type 2 at the end of the stage.
END of UMBRELLA
This is the first orignal stage which cover how umbrelal came to its end agian i won't spoil it but this isn't the true end to umbrelal but the is a massive fight at the end with Umbrellas deadlist Bio Weapon the TALLOS.
BEGINNGS
Play as Albert Wesker and learnt what he did during the events of Res 0 as you face the mighty IVAN and learnt some secrets about Umbrella past and come face to face with the Umbrella operative Sergi Vladmire.
REBIRTH
Face to escape the mansion as you once agian play as Wesker as you battle the immortnal Lisa Trevor in the great hall learnt how Wesker escape as you undercover more about the Mighty TALLOS and found out more about Umbrellas past
DARK LEGACY
Your final time as Wesker as you fight Umbrella HQ and battle the deadly IVAN twins and face off agianst Sergi Vladmire and find out what wesker true motives are as you but the final nail in umbrella coffin.
DEATHS DOOR
Learn how ADA escaped from Raccoon City after the events of Res 2 and find out more about her relation to WEsker as you escape Raccoon City with Williams Berkins G-Virus.
4TH SURIVOR
Play as Hunk the Umbrella soldier as you fight to escape the doomed R.P.D police station as the Radio gets crossed wired you can hear the terrifying screams of civillians and get some interesting slogans that relate to older Res games.
KNIGHTHMARE
Play as Rebbecca and Richard as you journey through the Mansion and find out just how richard got those snake bites and agiand learn more about umbrella and just what happened to those dogs that attacked the stars team.

otherall a great game and if you a resident evil follower you have to buy this game to finally get some answers

GRAPHICS - 9 - a little shaky at times but otherall great
GAMEPLAY - 10 - Superb boss and enemy battle BRILANT!
SOUND - 10 - Agian brillant new and old RE Tunes
29-30 other all ACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game sucked. It was boring and repetitive. The controls were all right but not that great. Most of the movies were just pictures with words instead of a real cut seen. The bosses were horrible. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  Raid Shooter Fans/RE Fans Only

Basically, this game is an averagely difficult but well made on-rails shooter. If you don't know what that is, its like a First Person Shooter, except you can't control where you move, the game has a predetermined path.

What sets this game apart is the story. The game is a RE game through and through, and takes you through the main parts of the first three games, and an entirely new chapter that wraps up Umbrella and kills off the company in the RE series. If you've never played the series, you won't really "get" the story.

There are small glowing spots on many of the things you kill. Shoot these and you get a one shot kill. However a little luck is involved, because it is impossible to hit them everytime, but it is very satisfying. The boss battles themselves are quite engaging, and they will probably be your favorite parts of the game.

Your handgun has infinite ammo, but the rest of your guns have ammo you need to collect, and you won't get much, like all other RE games, you must conserve.

The game is very long for a On-Rails shooter. House of the Dead by Sega, the standard, clocked in at about 4 hours. This one can take well over 8 hours to complete. This is a good thing, and amazing for this genre of game, which has been stale for a while, until this game was released.

The graphics are good, about RE4 quality, which are excellent. The sound, music, and VA, suprisingly aren't as good as you'd expect, but this is really a nitpick.

Overall, the game is great fun, and perfect for the Wii. Some minor annoyances keep it from being excellent, but overall, your gonna have a good time with this title. Don't miss it if your a RE fan, or an On Rails Shooter fan. If your both, you should have already bought this one. I would personally give this game a 4/5, but I'll rate it a 5/5 on this site, to counteract the 1/5 guys review, which was just terrible and I feel, made me a dumber person for reading it.

  Slow start, but gets better

After playing through the first mission, I absolutely hated this game. I didn't like shooting leeches and scorpions and I was starting to get a little bored with the story. After completing the first chapter and moving on to the second however, things changed for the better. The story started to improve and you start fighting some very interesting foes with specific weaknesses that you usually have to figure out. I also liked the fact that you can play as Wesker. It's interesting to see what happened from the bad guys perspective. Overall, it actually ended up being a pretty good game. Just don't judge the game from the first chapter.

OVER-RATED Game. Do not buy for your child!!!

If you really like games on rails (you can't decide where to go; the game just carries you through scenes that you shoot at until you die), then this game is for you. It's fun- sure- for a bit; but as far as "Resident Evil" goes, it's totally different than the genre of games.
I'll say it like this: If you like playing games like "House of the Dead," ENJOY! This is the game for you. If you like playing Resident Evil 4, this game is tollerable because the basic gameplay is enjoyable and challenging... BUT it's not anything like it.

I was a bit disappointed but I did not research the game before I bought it and thought I was getting something like "Code Veronica." I bought the zapper and, like I said, it can be fun but it can get menontonous too...

If you play 2 players, it can be really fun.

DON'T BUY FOR YOUR CHILD IF THEY ARE UNDER AGE 15!!! This game is graphic! BE A GOOD PARENT! PLEASE!

I was Expecting this to Top "House of the Dead..."
Review created: 11/24/07(updated 04/19/09)
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I appreciate that Capcom put a great effort for mimicking House of the Dead, but it wasn't that good nor bad, but average. The controls were pretty easy to manipulate, but there are times when you have to press a combination of buttons in certain situations that can get tediously annoying; Many scenes of the game will force you to press these random buttons in a split second, not giving you much time to react - so it can be a nuisance at times to die by not pressing these buttons in time. Graphically, it was Gamecube quality and it was decent enough. The Sound is alright, but the most that irritated me, was the music in some parts of the games; some of the music did not fit in the situation(Imagine going through this zombie infested city with techno music, I mean what the hell?) The voices aren't accurate either... I know many wouldn't care, but since I'm a hardcore fan, I know what sounds right and not and this doesn't sound right much or at all (LOL to Carlo's accent being American). Alright here's the big thing: The level for which you play as Jill and Carlos were staged from the Outbreak series and not from RE3 - a bit odd... so why not just have a Kevin and Alyssa pair-up for that section, eh? Claire and Leon were also missing and they didn't do RE2 - I am angry with this. A Claire and Steve partnership was also missing and I HOPE that Capcom make a sequel to this game, along with Leon and Ada too. Lastly, the transitioning cutscenes aren't even exciting at all; they were simple cut and paste pictures with a text of words - without even a narrator! The only thing I really liked are the extra missions they've had, especially Wesker's missions, since you undergo what he does that was unknown to us before. But Resident Evil fans as we are, we can learn to love this game because we can delve into the past and present of Resident Evil. Oh, and there is an addition where you play again as Chris and Jill in a secret Umbrella Facility in the Arctic and you go underground to the laboratory based on the Movie, Resident Evil Extinction to fight off Wesker's new creation, T-Elos. Experience the laser dodging like Alice did!

Hey this is another game coming out for the Nintendo Wii on November 13th. This game is the fourth of this series and the games previous to this one or amazing. 9.8 all around for this game from gaming sites. This one probally Won't be as good but will be good with the zapper. Now you will not be able to move at all it will move for you and there is no online :( . If you get a zap you will probally get this but it isnt a must buy. You should get assassin's creed or call of duty or mario galaxy.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles for Wii

I love the Resident Evil series of games and this game seems to combine all the best parts of the previous games right down to the first R.E. game. Lots of fun. This game might be a little easier if I had the zapper, but it's still good even just with the Wii remote. Some of the different parts of this game are pretty tough just starting out, but I love a challenge! This game is usually more than $50 in stores, so buying it on ebay for $12-$15 dollars less was a great deal to me. I'm glad I bought it!

Excellent game! Love the 2 player co-op, story lines and all around easy game to play. Went with ebay because shops had used ones with no artwork and just as much. The game is discontinued which made it twicw as hard to find. Condition was excellent as stated by seller, but was missing the manual for the game but came with original case. Fun game for mature ages, but ranks 10 out of 10 in my books.

A fun alternative to dropping quarters at the arcade
Review created: 08/21/08

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I haven't played any of the other arcade-style shooters on the Wii, but from what I've noticed, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles appears to be one of the best offerings so far, as it was tailor-made for the system and not simply a port. If you love playing games such as Time Crisis, House of the Dead, or Area 51 at the arcade, then you'll probably love Umbrella Chronicles.

To get the technical aspects out of the way, the graphics are generally clean and crisp for a Wii game, and it looks great on an HDTV. The visuals aren't spectacular in some aspects (the occasional slowdown), and there are a few odd flaws here and there (such as the blurry typed introduction to each level), but they are essentially unobtrusive since the focus tends to be on shooting all the undead creatures. A great amount of interactivity is also provided in the form of destructible environments, and it's put to good use as rewards are often hid in miscellaneous objects (providing a welcome excuse to shoot everything in sight just to see what happens).

Controls are simple enough for anyone to play the game immediately, since pointing, shooting, and reloading are very intuitive. Occasionally, the added responsibility of swapping weapons, throwing grenades, picking up items, moving the screen, and mashing buttons to dodge enemies can be overwhelming for new players in the middle of a firefight, but a quick leaner or anybody with video game experience will quickly become accustomed to the more nuanced controls.

Each level needs to be completed before the next is unlocked, but easy mode is simple enough (although the difficulty increases as you progress, especially towards the end of the game), and the difficulty mode can be ramped up for those who want to test their marksmanship. The inclusion of weapon upgrades, item collection, and ratings on your skill at the end of each level also provides a significant amount of challenges for the perfectionist gamer to tackle.

Naturally, Umbrella Chronicles follows the various Resident Evil plots, which are conveyed through cutscenes and dialogue interspersed with the gameplay. The stories told aren't that compelling, per se, as they follow the typical B-movie characters stumbling through the typical B-movie horror-film world, but they are interesting arcade-shooter filler nonetheless. Actually, the campy nature of the early Resident Evil games is part of what makes them endearing to so many people, and Umbrella Chronicles delivers in that aspect. The dialogue is often laugh-out-loud awful, and the deadpan delivery by the voice actors just adds to the ridiculousness. What would possess people to say things like "Don't call me princess!" and "I don't think this is just someone's summer home..." in the middle of a zombie onslaught? A classic bomb my friends and I like to recite is dropped by Chris, who, after shooting his buddy-turned-zombie, salutes his death with an oh-so-reminiscent "I'll miss our target practice sessions." Oh, the irony.

I would highly suggest this purchase to those who are big fans of the Resident Evil series, as it contains a huge collection of information from the many games leading up through the third installment (minus the second).
Umbrella Chronicles is also a fantastic choice for those who like to have a thrilling, challenging, and easy-to-learn game to play in short bursts with friends. There is two-player co-operative play, and it's fun to watch if people are waiting to take turns.

  The Umbrella Chronicles...
Review created: 05/22/08

the umbrella chronicles.... now i am a huge resident evil fan... i have EVERY single game...including survivor 2... which never came out in america... ( have the PAL version) i have played every single resident evil game... and even dead aim was pretty good... but the umbrella chronicles.... if you took albert wekser, the umbrella corporation... house of the dead... and put them in a blender...added some vinegar.... this is probably what you woudl get... this game is fun for killing time... but it is not resident evil... you dont solve puzzles... you simply shoot zombies on a track... ITS NOT AN AMUSEMENT RIDE!... all they did was take layouts and levels from resident evil 0, resident evil (gc) and outbreak... it isnt even a new game... its older re games recycled and butchered into a house of the dead game... i really did not like this gameAT ALL... i give it average only becuase jill valentine is hot...BUT YOU DONT GET TO SEE HER!!!...its a first person...you only hear her voice... AND WHAT WAS UP WITH CARLOS...!!!... he sounded HORRIBLE!...how hard woudl it have been to get someone with a hispanic accent to do his voice...HECk i woudl ahve done his voice better... seriously... make games that are great, not games to sell... i change my mind..this gets below average...

Good but extremely hard and frutrating

Overall this is a good game. Perfect for the wii zapper or nyko perfect shot but this game is really hard. What makes it hard and frustrating is that u must press Z, C, B or shake the nunchuck to avoid some attack from bosses and enemies. The problem is that you have like 800ms of time to react. You must have really good reflex and be real quick, or else you die and must try again, and again and again. And that's even on easy mode. If you want a good game to use with the zapper, I recommand Medal of honor heroes 2 instead of this one. In MOH you'll also have a arcade mode like in RE, but you won't have any disapointement or frustration for dying 10 times in a row because you hit the Z button like 0.2sec too late.

  A good game with replayability
Review created: 02/10/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I bought the Umbrella Chronicles on the Nintendo Wii and I was amazed by the quality of the game. For a rail shooter, there are many possible outcomes to take; most missions have an alternative path you can choose for additionnal ammunition or items. On that note, rare is the railroad shooter where you have a big diversity of weapons and, in addition, a selection of items to find. In each mission, you can find different files to collect. Last but not least, you have a score for each mission. A better score grants you additionnal upgrades for your sub-weapons. With huge replay value and a strong tie to the Resident Evil story, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is a must-have for any hardcore fan who love replayability.

  Fun yet Repeticious at Times!!!
Review created: 02/01/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Pros
+ You get to play through RE 0, 1, 3, and see the end of Umbrella.
+ Lots of shooting zombies and B.O.W.'s
+ Much funner when you add a second person.
+ Wesker gets pretty awesome towards the end, like an evil Neo or something.

Cons
- You don't actually control much of your characters movement, so you can miss a lot of stuff along the way.
- It's easy to run out of ammo because there is not a lot in the levels.
- It's really hard to unlock all of the special things the game has to offer.
- Visuals could have used a bit more polish.
- Actually, quite a short game here.
- Bosses are not as epic as they usually are.

Comments
This is more about Wesker and seeing how he brought down Umbrella just so he could build it himself. It's a lot of fun going through the game with a friend and all of the single player missions can be unlocked for co-op if you beat certain levels with certain rankings. I don't like how you really aren't aiming and shooting like a light gun though. It's more just move your cursor around and shoot.

Verdict
Must own for any Resident Evil fan. Best light gun game on the Wii thus far. Probably will be for awhile. Rental for most probably though.

One of the best "on rails shooters"
Review created: 12/21/07

This game is an on rails shooter, not an adventure game like Resident Evil 4. Having said that, I want to say that it is an excellent game, with great challenges and great replay value due to side quests and to try to improve your rankings.

My first Resident Evil game was the RE4 Wii Edition and now this one it is my second. I really enjoy it and for me it is a must buy. Took me 14 hrs to beat, so it is long enough to make it worth the purchase.

I love this game! The beast thing is there's not a lot of story to start on shooting zombies - and really, isn't that what life is all about? You get to play a girl with a cute voice if you are a girl, or a boy if you are not. Anyway, there's lots of stuff I haven't got through yet - it's just a lot of fun! Thanks Dad!
