World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions -- 2007 Edition (Xbox 360, 2006)

Assuming you already know how to play poker, there isn't much of a learning curve here. The interface is intuitive and really there isn't too much need for a manual.

The gameplay mechanics work pretty well. There are a few annoyances, such as when you make a decision such as "fold," your player will sit there playing with his chips for a while before folding. Stop playing with your chips, and fold already! I realize it's for visual effect, but it happens way way too often, and it gets incredibly annoying when you just want the game to move on. The AI seems good, though I'm no poker expert. Some of the characters really do play like the pros, as they play fairly aggressively compared to a lot of newbies who play online (for real money).

Graphics are severely disappointing and are PS2/Xbox level graphics. Clearly Activision didn't put much effort into spicing up the 360 version of the game. Character models are rather basic, textures are ho hum, and the character's movements look robotic. The game clearly would've benefited from some motion capture. Facial expressions are lifeless, which you'd think is a good thing for a poker game, but even when someone wins big, their face remains emotionless.

Audio is also extremely disappointing. It would've been really nice to have a lot more audio going on: audience noise, better chip sounds, things like that. Even if some people find all that annoying, there could've been options to adjust those sounds. It's really a bummer when you go all in and win a major pot, and you CAN see the audience clapping, but hear nothing. Sometimes you can hear them clap (not sure why you can't always hear it), but it sounds like a few people clapping, not a large crowd. Players sneeze WAY too much, seriously. Is there a huge cold bug going around Vegas or something? It would've been nice to have more recorded phrases from the pros, too, and maybe a nice extra bonus if players talked to each other once in a while ("you got a pair of jacks, don't ya?").

I haven't tried online play yet so I can't comment on that.

Overall, it's a good game, probably one of the better poker games out there right now. But I hope Activision addresses the above issues for the next version.

Pros: Easy to find and join an online game, gameplay is easy, AI players change play (bluffing, etc)

Cons: Announcers become an annoyance after repeating same comments multiple times per game. Players sneeze constantly. Gameplay is slow and unexciting.

Summary: Seems like no testing was done prior to release. Not a fun game, I give all aspects average rating.

I found this game to be extremly intresting, it gives you a number of options and even lets you customize your player to look like yourself. As exciting as it started out, it did kind of get boaring after about a week, their are sounds (Shuffling Cards) and players make coments, however it makes for slow game play. If you enjoy playing Texas Hold em you will enjoy this. My problem is I am not a die hard card player.

Best poker game so far made. It is a more interactive poker game and it feels the closest toward realism that other online or console games.

Fun game! Learn Poker easily with this game. Great graphics and details. Even the kids can learn to play with the easy step by step intructions. Have fun winning or losing without using real money!

I have just recently learned to play poker and this game was easy for me to pick up. Overall this is a good game. The only thing that I didnt like is that the only way you can have more then 1 (real) player is to go onto xbox live. Unfortunately, I do not have that right now.

I love playing poker both in casinos and with friends so I was excited when this game came out for the 360. Unfortunately the game fell far below my expectations. Graphics and sound were bad but more importantly the interface was terrible. It was extremely difficult to determine who was betting and how much they were betting. I sold the game on ebay for $15 shortly after purchasing it for $40; that difference alone should tell you something about the game.

My husband and I both love this game! We were so upset when we couldn't play our original WSOP Xbox game and then Microsoft outdid themselves with this new one!

HI, I bought this game like 2 months ago, and it is very exciting and entertaining... Seems like everytime I play it, I get lost in it and can play it for hours...its very competitive and keeps your mind thinking.... for anyone that is thinking about purchasing this item, I strongly do recommend it, especially if you are interested in any of the poker games...

THIS GAME IS EASY TO PLAY AND IS ALOT OF FUN. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT A 5 STAR BUT... YOU CANNOT EARN BRACELETS IN THIS GAME NOR CAN YOU PUT THEM ON YOUR CHARACTER WHICH WOULD BE ALOT OF FUN SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY TOURNAMENTS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NEAT TO WEAR DIFFERENT ONES... ADD SOME BRAGGING RIGHTS. OTHER THAN THAT TONS OF FUN!

If you are looking to learn the game of poker or have fun playing without using your real money, this game is for you. Great poker game all around.

Played it for the first time last night. The movement / action is pretty dry, but it's a fun card game. I liked playing the tournament mode.

I really wanted to get this game based on my love for the game of poker. I bought this item on Aug 18 but never receceived the game. The seller has had Excellent communication but has only been in response to my displeasure with an invalid tracking number and a non-received dispute. I closed the dispute because it allegedly caused a financial hardship for the seller. I felt really bad about it but the principle is that I paid for a service and never received it. It doesnt matter how much I paid but that I never got the game I purchased. I only asked for a tracking number and positive feedback, I paid for the game promptly and seller shouldve left immediate feedback. Someone with 1980 feedback should know that. I always leave immediate feedback to buyers because thats the right thing to do.
I am not personally blaming the seller. Its not her fault that the game never arrived if it was sent when she said it was. It couldve got lost in the mail.
I only asked this seller 3 things
1. leave feedback
2. tracking number
3. when the first 2 failed...to issue a refund.
The seller has failed to do any of the 3.
At this point, all I want is my positive feedback.
After a month, I doubt that I will ever get the game.
To add insult to injury, i gave up on a claim, and I even left the seller positive feedback which she has failed to do for my prompt payment.
I hope that this seller will do better business in the future.

I like it alot. We just got Xbox 360 for Christmas and want more games for as reasonable as possible. The game is fun and challenging to sharpen up your Texas Holdem' skills.

This seller offered Paypal as a payment option. I have tried on several attempts to make payment with all showing 'pending' and unclaimed. The seller told me that his SON, not him mind you, listed this game and that his Paypal email address was incorrect. He then said he'd corrected it. I've tried a couple of times since then to pay and it's still the same old payment address. I've sent him 2 more msgs with NO response. This is the type of person that ruins Ebay for those of us who try to do it right.

Product needs work to be fun.
