Smaller than a cell phone, lighter than a man's wallet, as easy to use as instant Coffee. This is THE coolest iPod to come from Apple. The iPods are famous for their non-skipping, long lasting, and easy to use interface. This is no different. It's everything you love about the iPod then add more nice features and shrink it... twice. It's robust interface and no moving parts coupled with long battery life and even cleaner sound than the original iPod, this is definitely a winner. I can't tell you how many times people stare at it when I take it out to play with it.

The Good:
* Very cool
* Color screen
* Very thin .27 inches
* Small: 3.5 inches by 1.6 inches (62% smaller than the iPod Mini)
* Long battery life: Tested mine at over 12 hours
* Fast transfer of data: ~4 minutes to fill the 2 Gigs and ~8 minutes to fill the 4 Gig.
* Synchs with Microsoft Outlook
* Games
* Workout features like lap time
* World clock
* Screen lock to prevent thieves from using a stolen Nano
* Equalizer for the sound
* Photos
* Loads album image

The Bad:
* Very limited accessories at this time
* No voice recorder
* Can't zoom or pan video
* Chrome at the back picks up fingerprints easily
* Non-adjustable EQ
* Did crash on me once
* Album image only available if you purchased the song from iTunes. Uploading your CD doesn't work.
* Will likely be out of date in a few months as Apple quickly revs on the iPod product

  What You Need To Know About The nano
Review created: 12/20/05
126 of 153 people found this review helpful.

Ipod nano is the best thing to happen to happen to digital music since the iPod itself. I bought this in hopes to have the next cool thing out there, ( i had a mini before and sold it to buy a nano because i didn't have 1000 songs and i wanted to have pictures)

When i first got it it was GREAT, i plugged it in and all the sudden within about ten minutes it was updated with the latest software and it had all my music and pictures on it. Then things went bad.

I was going on a trip that day and when i was back i noticed my iPod nano was scratched. it had not been abused, or even near something that could have scratched it. Go to any store with one on display and you'll see that pretty much whenever you touch it it scratches. YOU MUST BUY A SKIN AND SCREEN PROTECTORS OR IT WILL BE SCRATCHED UP LIKE AN OLD RECORD!

Because the screen is just under the plastic that covers the front of the nano the whole screen is very vulnerable to scartches and smudges which are very hard to get off on this certain plastic.

Positives:

small and sleek

holds all the music most people need

is great if you want pictures but not video

in my opinion sound quality is pretty good.

Negatives:

More Fragile Than a glass ornament

screen is too small for pictures

apple's customer support is really bad

no wall charger, a big problem for those of us that can't get to our usb ports easily on our cpu.

if you are looking for a great toy buy a psp. if you are looking for a mp3 player, try something else. if you must have this, get a knight's armour!

  Apple Nano, great product, great price, pros/cons
Review created: 02/05/06(updated 02/05/06)

Aside from the cheap headphones Apple comes standard to give with their products, this gadget is rather neat. I blew out the regular white Apple headphones after only a weeks worth of use! I also would definitely recommend some kind of carrying case/protector for the Nano because even from just regular use, a good amount of wear and tear is going to result, this is inevitable regardless of how careful you are with the Nano. If you want to keep this thing looking great then a case is absolutely mandatory.

A very handy item for the gym or anyone participating in outdoor activities. The Nano fits well inside the palm of your hand and its light weight design won't be any trouble inside pockets. Comes equipped with four games and has picture capabilities. Sound quality is great once I upgraded to a better set of head phones, and at 2gb still is more than enough space to store my mp3 collection.

Granted the Nano uses more power than the IPod shuffle and has a color screen, I am still not too impressed on the battery life. From regular gym use I would only have to charge my shuffle every 1.5-2 weeks, my Nano needs a charge every few days it seems.

Weak battery life, cheap and easily breakable head phones, and the ever so easily scratchable case for the Nano make me reluctant to rate this product as Excellent. Still very good nonetheless. For people who would use this with more of an outdoor experience and could pass on the color screen, I would definitely go with the shuffle due to the cheaper price, lighter weight, and longer lasting battery life. I did not notice any sound quality differential between the nano and the shuffle.

  Not Bad. Has clear sound, Sleek, but TOO Fragile

This is great if you are not hevaily into music, and you dont need 20,000 songs on your ipod. This is for the people who like music and put their favorite songs on. The sound from the apple headphones are great, the design is sleek and looks cool. The only thing i didnt like is that it cant be dropped more than a couple times before you need a new one. However, you do have 1 years Apple warranty, but watch out, Apple is getting stricter on "accident" policies.
There are newer ones out, which are better quality (tech-wise, size-wise, etc.), however, i like the look of the original nano here with the black front cover, and reflective metal backing.

iPod Nano 2GB is Delicious 5/5

There are so many great reviews of the iPod Nano - but I will keep it rather straight forward and plain. My biggest compliment is that I've read all of the reviews on eBay and elsewhere and had very high expectations. No way the iPod Nano could live up to the expections... well, I was wrong. When I bought it and held it and listened to it - I could do nothing but smile. Its gorgeous. Its got great storage. Its amazing!

  Great...but don't drop it!

I loved my nano... for about two months. That's when I dropped my nano for the first time, and the LCD screen cracked. Now, I essentially have a really expensive iPod shuffle. I admitt that the drop was my fault and an accident, but shouldn't a $200.00 mp3 player be able to sustain one drop? Not according to Apple! Accidental LCD damage is not covered under warranty, and Apple does not currently repair LCD damage- not even if you offer to pay for it. Apple's suggestion was, "you could just purchase a new one." Thank you for the permission to purchase a new $200 piece of equipment that I was not satisfied with in the first place.
Pre-drop: 5/5 After ONE drop: 0/5 (4/5 if I had bought a shuffle;)

  Nice MP3 player, compact, don't like the software
Review created: 01/19/06

I don't need to tell you what you already know about the Nano. Yes, it's tiny...short and thin. So tiny you could probably lose it pretty easily. I bought the 2gb version because 500 plus songs is enough at one time for me, so I didn't see the need to spend more money.

The main issue I have with the Nano is the software Apple has bundled with it. It's not user-friendly to those who are not computer-saavy. It pretty much starts up and just sits there, and if you're not good at poking around then you won't know how to import songs into the ITunes folder to get it on your Nano.

The second issue I have is that ITunes automatically installs Quicktime. I freakin' HATE Quicktime. It takes over any and every media application, no matter what you have the settings on. I unchecked all media types so that it would only play Quicktime files, but still all my MP3's opened with Quicktime. But you can't uninstall it, or you can't download songs onto the Nano. This alone makes me hate the whole thing :)

On a good note, the instructions tell you that if your computer does not have the new USB 2.0 hardware, then downloading songs to the Nano might be slow. If by slow they mean about 5-8 seconds per song, then yes, it's slow. I thought it was pretty fast, and had no complaints.

(By the way people, please stop buying USB 2.0 cables for $30 a pop. The cable is NO different than a USB 1.0 cable, except that it costs $25 more. The only thing that makes 2.0 faster than 1.0 is the card/hardware inside the computer, not the cable. Having said that, make sure you buy a good quality 1.0 cable, not a Wally World special :)

  iPod & Audible Books are great tools for learning
Review created: 06/24/06
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

By now you should know that the iPod is something that every person on earth should have. If you don't have one yet get one of the new ones that playback video. I personally own an iPod mini because that's what my friend bought me for Christmas 2 years ago when it came out. But if I had to buy one now I would definitely get the nano because of it's size and sleek design.

Everyone should buy an Apple iPod because of the fact that you could listen to audio books from Audible.com during your drive to and from work. That'll educate you while you're on road. You have plenty of titles to choose from. Since some of us are audio learners this is an amazing new learning experience brought to you by iPod and Audible. Also you get a free audio book by joining the club.

I hope this helps you bid on one of the iPods on ebay. Again enjoy the learning.

  I Paid Two Hundred Dollars For This!?
Review created: 02/24/06
8 of 12 people found this review helpful.

Apple must have been stoned when they thought of making this! First of all you pay $200.00 for 1000 songs,big deal! The Ipod video is $300.00 and plays 15,000 songs and it is almost as thin as the Nano; plus the Ipod video has way more features than the Nano. Overall the Nano is kind of a waste of money as it easily breaks and taunts you with its weird position of headphone insertion. Get an extra $100.00 and buy something worth while like the Ipod video!!

I like the style and menu of the nano. Small screen and small footprint make it something that can fit anywhere, anytime. It can be very stylish and trendy but then you need to start looking at the details of it. For the price of music per gig it is one of the most expensive mp3 player models out there. The screen is shiny and nice ot look at but scratches very easily, which can lose apeal. I havent been able to test the bettery life personally but i hear it is average. as for myself, if it were cheap enough i woudl buy it but i dont think it warrants the price tag.

When I bought the ipod everything looked good. The item arrived unwrapped and looked to be brand new. After trying the software iit ended up not working and after looking at the sellers page, it informed us that there were no returns. I find this alittle suspisious and we were very upset with our alternative, which was going through the apple store and tring to get the thing fixed. Very frusterating and time consuming as well.

  iPod Nano is incredible in many ways
Review created: 03/12/06
6 of 10 people found this review helpful.

I love the iPod nano! You can use it when you work out or when you are in the car. The Nano is resonably priced at $150 for the 1GB, $200 for the 2GB, and $250 for the 4GB. I use the nano when I go for a walk and I purchased an iTrip for $35 so now I can even use it in the car. I love how the Nano is so small and easy to use, you just plug it into your computers and it automatically loads your songs up on to it. It also can hold up to 25,000 photos so you can view a picture slideshow where ever you are, you can even buy a dock and watch the slideshow on any TV.

The iPod nano packs all kinds of features, you can use it as a stop watch when your running, you can play games on it when you are on a plane or you can hook it up to speakers and use it as an alarm clock so that you can wake up to your favorite tunes. The battery life is extrodinary on it. It can play for 14 hours on 1 charge.

The iPod nano is available in either Black or White and is extremely thin, .27 inches which is a tad bit thinner than a pencil. Best of all it looks like a miniture iPod!

  Excellent product, yet watch out
Review created: 02/26/06

If you are looking for a small mp3 player for not too high of a price, a 2gb Ipod Nano is a very good choice, especially if you buy it here on eBay. There are however a few things to be careful of. For example, the iPod Nano scratches very easily, so if you don't mind burning ten bucks, you might want to buy a case. If you are a person who is really into music, and you're positive that you are going to be purchasing more, I would suggest an iPod, or mp3 player with a larger memory. I own an iPod nano, it's excellent for listening to music, storing photos, contacts, and text documents. You can even play games on the iPod nano. The only reason that I rate this item 4/5 stars is because it scratches easily.

  good for some bad for others
Review created: 02/15/06

I like it because it is small and its an MP3 player. I like the design and the layout of the programs are fairly easy to use. the only things that i didnt really like about it were the instructions. They do not come with a booklet that tells you specifically how to do certain things. good for some, bad for others. Also, i didnt like its sharing abilities. e.g. i hooked my nano up to a friends library, and i couldnt download certain songs from here itunes list onto my ipod, without completely erasing my songs currently on there. I thought, that i could take it home and access them and download them on my computer, well i was wrong. You can upload a LIST of songs to the internet, but it is not the actual SONGS so its pointless. The only way I have figured out that I can do it, is burn me a CD from her library and bring it to my computer and download the songs, and then I can access them. thats just a lot of hassell. I want something that I can plug in and transfer songs, add and delete from as many libraries as i choose. Thats the main disadvantage. I have also heard that the screens on the ipod nanos break really really easy so i am having to be even more careful that i dont drop it. 300$$ is a lot of money to have to fork up because of dropping it a few inches. ... and it scratches fairly easy. I took mine out of the package, and put it back in its case, and scratched (very lightly though) the screen... now (at 1wk old) it has several very light scuff marks all over it. .. i dont know if i would go with one so small again. although it is very cute.

  You've gotta hold it to believe it!
Review created: 01/30/06
by:
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I've had a chance to play around with this for a few days now, and while I am a huge fan of the iPod Nano, it will not be replacing my 20GB iPod Photo anytime soon. It's Apple's own fault, really; they gave me 20GB (or 40, or 60) of space first, and now they want to take 90% of it away? Don't think so. I've come to believe what Apple's been telling me for a few years now: I NEED to take my entire music collection around with me everywhere I go. It's as essential as my cell phone and Metro Card. So for the storage reason alone, I can't chuck my 20GB model just yet. But the Nano really is a cool machine, and I imagine it will overtake the higher capacity iPods in popularity shortly because of its size, price, and cool factor.

Here's what I consider the improvements to be:
1. First and foremost, the transition to flash memory. This enables the Nano to be smaller and operate quieter than iPods that are hard drive-based. Make no mistake, flash memory is the future of digital music players;
2. The size, duh. Apple has made the Nano smaller without compromising much of the bright colorful screen. As we all now by now, it is thinner than a number two pencil (my 20GB iPod Photo, on the other hand, is probably three pencils thick). But it's still too large and delicate to jog with, without an optional accessory or two (arm band, lanyard headphones); and
3. The Apple-brand accessories that have been released concurrently with the Nano are affordable and well-designed.

...And what's not-so-great:
1. The price drop isn't that substantial, especially for what you get. For an extra $100, you can upgrade to a Photo that has ten times the capacity; and
2. The headphone jack is on the bottom of the Nano. I'm not sure what the logic behind this is-it seems like making a change for the sake of making a change to me.

Some wonderful things about the color iPods in general: they're very easy to use; their demure size could hardly be improved upon; the color screen is beyond adequate for viewing photos and album art; the battery life is exceptional; making playlists and controlling iTunes are simple tasks; all are compatible with Mac or Windows; and if you use a Mac, you can sync your iPod with your address book, to do list, and calendar (this has come in handy for me a number of times when I'm traveling). Also, if you're a college student or an educator at any level, the Apple Store (both the b&m and online versions) gives discounts on just about everything. For iPods it's about $20, but for computers it's up to $300

The bottom line on the Nano: it's a great entry-level MP3 player that will probably suffice for most listeners. However, if you're a music warrior who listens for many hours a day, many days a week, then 2-4GB is just too small to suit you--but of course you've had an iPod for three years now, and you already knew that.

  YOU SHOULD BUY AN IPOD!
Review created: 01/19/07
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

About a year ago I became interested in purchasing an MP3 Player. I shopped around trying out all the available brands at the time. My conclusion then and to this day is that Apple makes an MP3 Player that beats the rest in every aspect.

Why is it so good?

Ease of use. The learning curve on my Nano was 5 minutes. It is so easy to operate it's amazing. I've played with others that were just overly complex, yet did the same things as the Ipod.

Quality. From my year of ownership I'd have to say that the Nano is a very well built piece of electronics. I've had no problems to date despite heavy use and the occasional accident. The battery still holds a good charge after hundreds of recharges.

Accessaries! All you have to do is type "Ipod" in the ebay search engine and you will see that there are TONS of stuff you can buy to complement your Ipod. I've seen that it can be a real hassle to find aftermarket stuff for other brands. This allows you to really personalize your Ipod and make it fit any application you need it for. Example, I just purchased a 2007 Honda Fit. For a little extra the dealer installed the Honda Music Link. This allows me to plug my Ipod into the car's sterio and search through my song using voice prompts!

Conclusion: The only downside I see is in the difference in price. It is possible to purchase most other brands at a lower price. But you are definitely getting more for your money when you buy the Ipod for 50 bucks or so more.
Hope this helps!

  iPod Nano - Best Flash MP3 player right now & its sweet
Review created: 07/17/06
by:
5 of 9 people found this review helpful.

The Apple iPod has become a status symbol and its own pop culture icon. The newest induction to the iPod family is the flash memory based Nano. This small, thin, and fun MP3 player is a great addition for the person who doesn’t need an extremely large song base with them, or the gadget freak who wants to grab some music to go in his/her shirt pocket.

Below is a list of pros and cons of this player

Nano’s Positives:
-This is a must have accessory, plus it is a decent MP3 player.
-1.8inch Color screen which displays photos and album art
-Perfect Pocket size: 3.5 inches x 1.6 inchesx.27 inches
-Able to get the most of the battery - I had mine at 13.25 hours once.
-Sync your contacts and calendar with Outlook
-Workout friendly: Nike adapters to track running summary and cool armbands.
-3 games to kill time
-iTunes
-New screen lock to protect unauthorized use
-Huge accessory base, and has same connecting port at the bottom.
-Comes in black and White
-Apple product
-Click Wheel design

Nano’s Negatives:
-No video playback like similar flash players
-No voice recording
-Face and metal scratch really easy. Highly recommend an iSkin or other protection.
-Sound Quality: iRiver and others have better presets and equalizers
-Can easily snap if sat on wrong
-Non-replaceable battery
-iTunes (I know it is in both, but it has it pluses and negatives)
-The length of the battery life is said to be variable.
-iPod will come out with a new version in 1year (or so) of its release

I am an iPod fanboy. I love having accessories and being able to find the attachments that I need, and having a choice between the varieties, unlike other MP3 players. Until there is a so called “iPod Killer,” Apple and Mr. Jobs will have my money.

  2gb iPod Nano
Review created: 06/07/06
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I got my 2gb Nano when my old 2nd gen iPod broke. It was a step down size wise, my old one was 20gb, but everything else was a huge upgrade. I went with the Nano because it was cheap, I found a used one for $135.00 including S&H. I figured it would do until I get a new one with video, but I like the Nano so much I don't know if I need one with video. The best feature is the size, you don't realize how tiny they are until you hold one in your hand. It fits in your pocket with ease and still leaves room for cell phones and stuff. The screen is nice and bright and the resolution and color is excelent. The battey lasts a long time as well. Everything is very well made, the only problem I've noticed is that it scratches easily. I would suggest spening a little more and buying a nice case for it, I got one of those ceap silicone cases that everyone sells and it sucks. In closing, I enjoy my new iPod Nano and listen to it every day. Hope this review helps!

  I pod nano is ok

I think I pod is a nice, but they break down to quickly for me. I have invested in Ipods because I thought they would be long lasting. But I feel Ipod still has to many kinks to work out. I pod has shut off on me, turned off, have to have been rebooted to manufactures system and all kinds of ill fated things where my music has had to be earased. Im not exactly happy with Ipod especially the nano. I think the nano is TOO slim for its own good. It is cute that it can fit in your pocket but at the same time its not the best idea for me. And I dont find sense into getting something that only holds 500 to 750 songs. Most of my friends got nanos and found out quick that they wished they could put more songs with our earasing their favorite songs in the process.I think if you want to invest 200 bucks into portable music player get a sony mp3 they hold 13000 songs, I have had mine for a year with no problems at all.

I think iPOD Nano is a pretty good deal. I got a 4GB and pretty happy with it. Using it for a few months without any problem, just crashed once.
Pros -
1. 4GB ... pretty enough for me.
2. Exellent sound quality.
3. Smaller then a cell phone, easy to carry around.
4. Reasonable battery life.
Cons -
1. Easy to scratch....Very fragile!! I heard if you drop it ONCE, it may NOT work..!
2. Doesn't come with a charger. Only USB.
3. iPod requires iTune, which is very annoying. Regular MP3 format songs are NOT supported (I think).
4. Doesn't come with a simple case, extra $$$ .

I think it's a good pick .

The ne w Ipod Nanoo dazzles everyone. Quite simply stated, this miniature work of art is a masterpiece of technology and style. So, with a grat screen, memory, and looks, this is a spectacular Mp3 player.
