Ok, lets face it--these clubs have a face only a mother could love. They are plain, battle-ship gray, and kinda weird looking--oh yeah, and they hit the ball like nobody's business! Adams started something with these clubs. They are practically giving them away on eBay now, because there are lots of shinier new toys to play with ... but odd how, with 5 bags full of clubs, I keep pulling out my ugly little Adams again and again, and even assembled a set to keep in my car for impromptu golf (not much of a loss $-wise if they get stolen). Swing easy, and they hit the ball FOR you. I am a mid-handicapper (80's), with an average swing speed. Tee them down very low for par 3's or tight fairways, or from anywhere else .... and they are a cure for the fairway blues ..... Lets put it this way--if I had to suggest a fairway wood for a beginner golfer, the Adams original Tight Lies would be it. The 3 wood (13*) hits the ball so far, so straight, so easy, I think about 70% of beginning golfers would hit this waaaay better than their driver. So grab a few of these pathetic looking little beasties for a song on eBay and beat the socks off your Callaway swinging friends!

I met a guy on the course and the starter teamed us up on a cart. He had an adams strong 3 and offered to let me hit it. I looked at it and it was just like on the infomercials. I hit it in good grass so I wouldn't scratch it and the ball flew. The 200+ yard distanceand 7 iron trajectory was wild.

A few months later the local Play it AgainSports had some that had just come in. They were demos at $49 for steel shaft, and $59 for graphite. They were sticking up out of trash barrels. I spotted a steel shafted model that had the paint wore off of the top from people hitting under the ball. I asked the guy that worked there if he would knock a little off the price. I had bought from him before and he knew me, so he said yeah, I could have it for $30. He couldn't believe it looked that bad.

That is just what I wanted. When I get out of bounds at my home course, I am usually on gravel, cart path, rocks, etc. This club I couldn't hurt.

When I first tried it my ball was in some light rocks outside of a fairway bunker and I swung and the ball and topped it. On the next couple of tries I couldn't hit the ball.

After a little while I remembered that when I hit the other guys Adams I swung easy so as not to scratch the club. Well I tried that and WHOOOOOOSH there it went.

remember " SWING EASY, GOOD CONTACT, LET THE CLUB DO THE WORK" . If you try to kill it, you'll never hit the club correctly.

I hit mine about 220 yards, with a high trajectory of a short iron. On long 500 yard par 5's I hit a driver and the Adams. If I'm not on the green in 2, I'm close enough for a short chip. Even on dry hard greens they don't roll or bounce very far.

Try one of these clubs, you'll like it . They are cheap on E-bay ,so there is no excuse.

LAter,
Cwomac

My very first shot with an Adams tight lies was an Strong 7, I was in the sand on a Par 5 after my drive so I still had 250+ so my buddy threw me his tight lies strong 7 and said swing easy and you'll be fine. I thought to myself swing easy, I still have 250+, but I took his advice and out of shock and amazement I hit this strong 7 about 195 from the sand. I have been hooked ever since!!!

  Tight Lies Fairway Woods (Adams)
Review created: 06/01/07

I've had the original Tight Lies 3 wood for years. I had the opportunity to purchase a 4 and 5 wood through e-bay, so I bid on them.

The Adams clubs are the best that I have ever used. They reach down in bad lies and pick the ball up and send it where you want it to go. They may not be the prettiest clubs at the course, but your score will get better, and I've never seen a block on the score card for "club appearance."

If you normally play in the fairway, or on the short grass, they will still improve your game as they are very true hitting clubs. Their design causes the club to follow the swing path more accurately, making the clubhead contact with the ball truer. It will send the ball where you're aiming.

Great clubs!!!

I bought this club because of the reviews I had read. I was having a terrible time consistently hitting fairway shots, but no more. This is absolutely the best club. Very forgiving and consistent. Would highly recommend the club for anyone from a beginner to very good golfers.

Put your big-head fairway woods in the closet. These little clubs hit it just as far and just look better to my eye in the fairway and the rough. You can actually feel the clubhead when you swing. Great value for the money.

This is my favorite club in my bag. I can hit it 230 yards and straight as an arrow. This club has saved many a sliced drive. I can put the ball exactly where I want it!

Love it and would recommend to everyone!

I was in the market for a new Tight Lies Fairway Wood. As always e-Bay had a large selection to choose from. After reveiwing a large selection of options i put a bid out of two clubs. Each going off about 24 hours within eachother. I lost the first..got the second. And if i had missed that one there were more o could have gone after. Since these fairwood clubs are no longer made E-Bay is the only place i have to seach for them. Great experience and look forward to doing it again.

I recently purchased a used fairway club from Adams Golf Co., through an e-bay seller. The Club performed as well as a new one at a fraction of the cost. I would recommend aquiring different types of clubs this way to reduce you cost until you decide which clubs fit your game best.

Extremly versatile. Equally good off of tee or tight desert lies that I play most of the time in Arizona. No gimmicks just classic fairway wood.

Adams Tight Lies clubs 3,5,7,9, and 11 fairways woods

This set of 5 clubs are a set with graphite shafts. Already having the 3 and 5 woods, This was to be a chance to compare the clubs with different shafts (all reguler grafhite). These heads are classic in style, playability great, and can have a different feel with shaft and grip size changes. I found the new set has heavier feeling heads (D weight) from my 3 nad 5 woods that felt easier to swing. The grips felt fat and were changed even though new ones were on them. Helped.
To be able to buy a set and tweek them to fit one's style, can't be done better nor cheaper with any other used clubs.

  Good "rescue" club
Review created: 10/05/09

I have owned a tight lie before. no complaints. gets you out of the higher grass and good lift off the fairway. i like the distance that i get when i hit the ball correctly. easy to control the shot. been down on the par 5 greens in two shots. i also use this club for lay up shots. i do not use it for tee off shots. ball goes too high. better for me to use off the grass.

I bought an Adams Tight Lies Fairway Wood when they first came on the market and would not play with out them. I have the 3,5 and 7 woods in my bag. I love the feel and confidence they give. They are excellent clubs for hitting from the fairway and also coming out of the rough.

I had used one many years ago when I first started playing golf. After taking off from the game for 5 years, it was one of the first clubs I bought. This is the club you need in a true tight lie, It can be the best club between the driver and the putter for the long par 4's and 5's.
