Bukowski: Born Into This (DVD, 2006)

If you have a drinking issue you might not want to watch this DVD as it inspires lots of drinking. Be sure to keep a good pen and lots of paper handy as it will inspire you to write. If you don't know Bukowski make the investment

if you are a typical bukowski reader, this documentary isn't going to tell you a whole lot that you don't already know about the man. if you've ever read even one of his semi-biographical Henry Chinaski stories, you know he was obnoxious, self-destructive, hilariously offensive and, above all else, uncompromisingly truthful about himself and everyone else. just because all of his books are the same, doesn't mean you shouldn't read them all. and just because this film offers nothing new (except a little perspective), doesn't mean you won't want to watch the real Bukowski in action over and over again. this movie will definitely make your list of things to force upon unschooled friends and coworkers.

If you are a Bukowski fan, then you will enjoy this. It shows Bukowski in a lot of the settings his books take place in. Damn interesting..
