3M (FAP02-RS) Air Purifier

I purchased a few of the 3M Filtrete Ultra Clean Air Purifier FAP02 to replace an older air cleaner for a house with 3 dogs and I am very pleased with this unit.

The cleaner is a handsome appliance and extremely quiet, even on high speed. I am using it in a room about 16' x 10' and it seems to work perfectly in this size space. I noticed that the air smells much cleaner and kind of sweeter after running the unit overnight - Even with 3 dogs in the house. Although the filter is not a HEPA type, it does a great job of filtering and refreshing the air and the replacement filters are a fraction of the cost of HEPA filters.

The unit stands about 22" tall x 16" wide x 7" deep. The speed control is a large knob on top which turns to provide any of 3 speeds. At high speed, the machine is very quiet and is ideal for a bedroom, particularly for light sleepers. There is a reset button on the back, behind the filter, which can be used to remind the user to change the filter every 90 days (manufacturer's recommendation), but I am certain that under normal conditions, you would be able to use the filter longer than that. When the filter is about 80% used, a yellow light illuminates on the speed knob. When the filter needs to be changed, a red light appears. These lights are programmed to appear based on hours of running time, so it might be wise to visually inspect the filter before changing it. Under ideal conditions, I am sure that the filter would last longer than 90 days.

The FAP02 is rated at room size of approx. 160 s.f. The warranty is for 1-year from the manufacturer. There is also a toll-free number to call 3M with any questions. The instruction guide is pretty basic because the operation of the machine is also pretty basic. Just plug it in, set the speed and that's it. The electrical cord is long enough to reach any distant outlet. There is a built in handle for easy pick up and moving and the unit is light in weight and well balanced.
