Hands down the best 'mystery' movie I've ever seen. It has the classic noir feel, a truly compelling story thanks to Raymond Chandler, and allows a glimpse into california life in the late sixties.
It's more believable than bogart in the Big Sleep, and more intelligent than your standard Eastwood affair. I love this movie.
