Four great episodes, intro'd by the Monkees themselves!

I have loved the Monkees since I was a teenager, and this DVD contains four of MY favorite episodes. It's nice to know the Monkees themselves love these episodes as much as I do!
The episodes on this DVD are as follows:
HITTING THE HIGH SEAS, intro'd by Davy Jones
Davy explains that this is his favorite because it is one of the episodes that was filmed on location. It's my favorite because of the jokes that have stuck in my head since I was a kid, such as:
"Davy Jones? As in Davy Jones's locker?"
"Yeah, right, it's his great-great grandfather, and when he's 25 he inherits the locker!"
It also contains two great songs, "Daydream Believer" and "Star Collector." However, my favorite song on this episode is the little snippet of "Tear the Top Off My Head" that Micky and Peter sing in one of the scenes. Perfect harmony! It really showcases their voices.
MONKEE VS. MACHINE, intro'd by Peter Tork
Interestingly enough, Peter introduces it as "Man vs. Machine." He goes on to describe it as his favorite because of the character actors who guest starred in that episode, and because he liked the storyline. It's my favorite for the storyline also, but also I love the scenes with the computer DJ-61, especially when Mike Nesmith outsmarts the computer and is labeled a genius (!).
The songs in this episode are "Saturday's Child" (love it!) and "Last Train to Clarksville," their first big hit.
THE FRODIS CAPER, intro'd by Micky Dolenz
This is Micky's favorite because it was his debut as a director. He describes the process he used and why it worked so well for him. I love it because during that introduction, you see Micky Dolenz as more than just a Monkee. He is now a successful director who loves his chosen profession.
I love various bits and pieces in this episode, such as how they use the song "Good Morning Good Morning" by the Beatles as part of their Rube Goldberg-style alarm clock system; the "mystic chant" bit; and the "Frodis," which is nothing more than a fake ficus with a painted football for an eye.
There is only one Monkees song in this episode, "Zor and Zam," which is a sort of serious-sounding antiwar song, but this is the Monkees, so how serious is it really? The other song featured at the end of the show is by their friend Tim Buckley. He sits on the car that was "played" by Frank Zappa in a different episode and sings a hauntingly beautiful song while strumming a guitar. I wish I knew the name of it, but it's not even listed in the credits! Maybe if you're a Tim Buckley fan you'll know it or can find out.
FAIRY TALE, intro'd by Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork
It's Mike's favorite because he got to dress up as a girl and act silly; Peter loves it because of Mike's sarcastic and hilarious performance as Princess Gwen. I love it because it's put together like an elementary school play. It's just so darn cute! I also love the "Fairy of the Locket." The end of the episode is almost funnier than the show itself, because the guys tease Mike about his son's reaction to Daddy dressed as a woman, and he refuses to acknowledge that he actually did it. I'm a sucker for those cute after-show moments.
Overall, I would say this DVD is a must-have for all Monkees fans. Buy it today! :D
