What I loved about this album was everything because this is classical metal stuff I recommend this album to anyone who loves classical metal bands. I decided to buy this album to finish my collection of CD's and anyone who listens to this album shouldn't miss the classical hits. The self-titled song and "wake up dead"

  A worthwhile purchase overall

Megadeth is a band that needs no introduction to anyone even remotely familiar with metal. As far as thrash metal goes, you can't get much catchier than Megadeth's back catalog, from Rust In Peace to Killing Is My Business. Peace Sells is one of their best, if not the best album Megadeth had made, argueably, of course. Songs like the title track and Devil's Island will have your head banging in rythym. The first track, Wake Up Dead, is a really wicked display of guitar playing, and makes me wish Mustaine and Co. made more songs like this. The riffs, and the guitar playing in general, is solid and impressive. The drumming is very well done, and certainly a world better than anything Lars could play. The vocals are kind of hit or miss though. People tend to either really love Mustaine's voice, or hate it. I would tend toward the latter myself, as I think its generally god awful. James Hetfield's vocals sound retarted these days, but the guy had a decent voice in the 80's, and there was a reason he was the singer of Metallica, and not Mustaine. I wouldnt have let him touch a microphone either if it were my band, but thats just my opinion.

Its a shame this band, along with Metallica and several others, turned their back on thrash metal in the 1990's. Peace Sells is a brilliant reminder of what Megadeth once was about. Were there way better thrash bands out there in the 80's and 90's? Definitely, yes, there are albums by bands like Heathen, Artillery, Torture, Dark Angel, Paradox, Kreator, etc, that put anything Megadeth ever made, including this album, to shame, but that is beside the point. Peace Sells is very catchy and even old thrash guys like me still give it a spin sometimes, just because its fun to listen to. You really cant go wrong with old Megadeth material for pure enjoyment.

To hell with remasters, originals are better.
Review created: 02/07/09

I didn't realize that in 2004, Megadeth reissued their first 8 albums and remastered them. So I started my collection the remasters of Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?, and Rust in Peace. A few months later, I found an original copy of So Far, So Good...So What! at my local record store. Comparing the original copy and remastered one was completely different. I actually enjoyed the original copy (even though it's known for poor production) more than the remastered one.

Hence, I went to find original copies of albums. When I found this, I had to get it. After the comparison this with the remaster, it's the same as before. The drums pound, the bass is bouncy, the guitars are shredding, and it's absoulutely RAW. I love that in an album (ex: Ride the Lightning, Hell Awaits, Killing is my Business, Louder than Love, etc).

If you really want to get a CD collection going, buy the original copies and Crank it to 11.

Original sells...And I'm Buying

  Best Sounding Version !
Review created: 10/15/08

This Pressing is by far the best sounding of any I have heard. The new ones are mastered way too loud. Stick with the original, not the remastered ones!!

The levels on this pressing are somewhere between the original Canadian CapitolI pressing and the remaster.

The cover art is a bit brighter and looks more like the LP.

TOCP - 6537 is the best version available !

Review created: 08/09/08

What can I say about this brilliant album. I really like this album. From starting til the end, the songs are excellent. The crisp production. The album cover is awesome. 'Black Friday' is my favorite song. This is a classic for all thrashers. My favorite Megadeth CD.
