Moroccan Fun with the Marx Brothers
A Night in Casablanca (1946) is an enjoyable Marx Brothers comedy about Nazi treasure hidden in a Moroccan hotel for which Groucho Marx is the new manager. But the story matters little--this film is about the Marx Brothers' hilarious brand of zaniness.
If you've seen Casablanca, you'll get a few more of the jokes, and A Night in Casablanca does loosely model its story after the Bogart-Bergman classic. However, you'll have a lot of fun regardless of whether you've seen Casablanca.
I highly recommend A Night in Casablanca to fans of the Marx Brothers and to those who enjoy goofy comedies.
Note: Contrary to rumor, this is not the film in which the line "Play it again, Sam" originates. That line is neither spoken in Casablanca nor A Night in Casablanca.
