3:10 to Yuma (DVD, 2008, Widescreen)

Russel Crow and Christan Bale are excellent in this new Western. Crow plays an outlaw being chased and brought in by Bale a bounty hunting former soldier who's out to show his son what a good and honorable man he is. Crows character an outlaw with no heart and ice in his veins befriends his captor and in the ends helps him fullfil his promise to his son. This movie makes any man proud!

Rancher Dan Evans (Christian Bale) agrees to transport the captured
outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) to the nearest town with a rail station,
where they will wait for a train to court in Yuma. Holed up in the
hotel near the station, Wade wreaks psychological havoc on Evans,
while Wades henchmen plan their next move. Unknown to Evans is the
fact that Wade gains a overwhelming respect for the rancher during
the time they spend together. A great surprise ending-even if you
have watched the 1957 edition of this movie-is on hand. It has a
great deal of action to it-where the 1957 edition was docile and some-
what questioning as to whether Rancher Evans was dead or alive-here
there is no question. Director James Mangold adds another good movie
to his credits which is long already (Walk the Line, Identity, Kate &
Leopold, Copland, etc).

The scenery's grand and wide-open, the motivations primal, and the bad guys wear black hats (well, mostly anyway) in this first of the season's big Westerns. And there's a climactic shootout, you'll be glad to know, that justifies all the sitting around the characters do while they wait for that titular train.
Russell Crowe's the bad guy, a ruthless killer who sketches birds and pretty girls when he and his gang aren't slaughtering innocents and robbing stagecoaches equipped with crankable machine guns. Christian Bale is the troubled but principled rancher who, for a variety of painstakingly established reasons, will escort Crowe to the prison cell on the first car of the Yuma-bound 3:10 train, come hell or high noon.
Nothing terribly original happens in this remake of a 1957 semi-classic that starred Glenn Ford and Van Heflin, but everything happens smoothly and with grace. Director James Mangold (Walk the Line) makes the emotions count and keeps the action fluid. And he's had the wit to allow Ben Foster (who was an arty wimp on Six Feet Under and sprouted an angel's wings in the latest X-Men extravaganza) to steal every scene he walks into — as the most implacably murderous of Crowe's henchmen.

3:10 to Yuma is an incredible Western Movie! This movie has it all: Action, drama, and story! This is one of those rare triple threat movies.

You follow a down and out rancher (Bale) who is about to be unjustly forced off his land. In comes a murderer and thief (Crowe) who then becomes a possible way to save the farm.

As the movie plays out both the rancher and thief have an incredible story between each other.

This movie is one of the best movies I've seen in a while!

Christian Bale gives his best onscreen performance as plays the part of Dan Evans, a former Civil War Yankee who has lost his leg and is now trying to live an honest life raising cattle, but he is struggling to do just that. Ben Wade, played by Russell Crowe, is the exact opposite. He is an outlaw living life large, that is until he is caught by the law. The law needs someone extra to help bring the outlaw to the 3:10 train to Yuma, meanwhile Evans is about to lose his farm, so he volunteers to bring the outlaw in. At the same time, Wade's men are trying to run them down and free him. Crowe and Bale try to outwit each other to end, and I didn't really want to see either side win. Both sides of the law were likable, and I kind of wanted to see a compromise. Crowe offers Bale money several times to just walk away, but Bale wouldn't on principle.

I truly loved this movie. If you're a Western buff, it's a must have. Even if you're not, it's still a great movie. Bale and Crowe are great opposite each other, and the scenery is excellent as well.

This is a prime example of why I say Westerns are under rated. This movie is the best Western to come out since "Open Range."
It's wonderfully written and adapted from the original, the acting is great, the characters are very real, as is the story.
The story is in a nutshell, a farmer's land is about to be taken by "the Railroad" and to prevent this he takes a job
helping to guard a robber/murderer. From there it's the farmer and a handful of men trying to avoid getting killed by the
robber's gang, and get him on the 3:10 train to Yuma Prison, where he'll be hanged for his crimes. Very dramatic turns,
and a true, realistic old west atmosphere accompanied by great acting, which includes actors you know (you might not know
names, but you will know faces), playing out a great story make "3:10 to Yuma" one of my favorite Westerns of all time.

Excellent remake of this movie. Enjoy a good western. Russell Crowe was great in this movie. Rented movie 1st then purchased.

If you like the way Russell Crow acts, and I do, you get to see him do a different character this time. In my option he does it very well........

I saw this movie at the theater and was awestruck. I knew when the DVD came out, I had to have it. I've never been a huge fan of Christian Bale's, but in this movie, he is great! Russell Crowe is also very very good.
It's a brilliant story-line, and the ending is superb. ENJOY!

I never saw the original, And didnt know what to expect from this adaptation of the film, But I was very impressed. The ending wasnt what I expected, But then I hate it when you can guess the ending before you get there.
I highly recomend this film.

The movie was action packed and fast moving. I like the old westerns and this one reminds me of how movies used to be made. I purchased it for my collection. If you like westerns then get this one !!

GREAT MOVIE!! I have never seen the old version, but there is no way it could hold a candle to this one. Christian Bale and Russell Crowe make this movie great! You can not go wrong by buying this DVD. Great action from start to ending!!!!

I bought the dvd because i have seen the old film and wanted to see the new verson. They did an excellent job on the remake and i would highly recconmend this dvd for the hole family. Great lesson to be learned by all.

Russell Crowe plays a great part... great modern day western film... i hate totally predictable movies and this one was a keeper.

If you enjoy something offbeat, this film is definitely it. An untraditional western, with lots of edge of your seat action. Loads of fun, but not for kids.

This movie is great for the whole family once the children have reached their teenage years. There are a few parts that are not for young children but there is no sex and limited profanity. The story is incredible as well as the acting. Will have you longing for more! GREAT MOVIE!!!

If you like westerns at all then you will definatly like this movie. It has a good storyline.All of the characters come to life in there own skin to make a spectrum of people with a determination and goal to kill a man, save him or get out of the way!

it was a really good movie...it was a little hard to follow but still good...the end was the best part so meaningfull i cried...its very epic i would watch this one again and again worth the money

this is an old time wetern. you don't see any good western movies anymore. it was not all shoot em up, it showed that when you say you will do something, you follow through with it until the end. the good guy and the bad guy respected each other.

Like the fact that you can get this movie on line from any of the sellers, and it is an up to date movie, and I like that.

This was a fantastic movie!! George Crowe --- HE had such a way about him that kept you in your seat == WHAT a Guy!!!! Watched a friend's DVD and went out the next day and bought my own.
