It had to happen. 2GETHER is the boy-band version of the Rutles, the notorious Beatles parody band/film. The made-for-MTV movie chronicles the life and times of 2gether, whose sound is comparable to Boyzone, Backstreet Boys, N Sync, etc. Every cliche of the genre is expertly parodied here; the poppy choruses, polite dance beats, half-hearted rap interjections, insipid subject matter. The masterstroke is the fact that if one wasn't listening closely, the parody aspect of this project might easily go unnoticed. It's entirely conceivable that scores of impressionable preteens could mistake "U + Me + Us (Calculus)" and "Before We Say Goodbye" for the real thing. The Monkees might look like serious artists in comparison, but 2gether is just as pinup-worthy as the bands that they so successfully lampoon.

3.5 stars out of 5 - ...2GETHER finds lots of comedic air in the boy-band balloon. It's sometimes hard to hear where the joke begins on the soundtrack: All the requisite boy-band elements are here....2GETHER are better than the real thing.

    This is one of very few cds I can listen to all the ways through. I have never seen the 2gether movie/TV show, but the cd is great! I got it because I hear Evan Farmer (From the TV show on TLC, While You Were Out) was in the group 2gether. All of the guys/actors from the movie actually sang the music that is on the cd and they are great! The songs are funny also. There are a couple "serious" songs but most if you listen to the words closely you will get a good kick out of them. They were suppose to go on and do more as the group 2gether but one of the band members was sick and sadly ended up dieing (he was very young when he died, I think he was the youngest of the group, but I am not sure). Even my husband likes the cd and we don't ever like any of the same music. So my review: Great CD!
