Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Nintendo 64, 2000)

My son loved this game! He is 5 years old and got it from Santa! He finished it in 10 days!!! He had me come into the room because he knows I love to watch the credits roll and loves to see the look of shock on my face! He still plays it over and over again!

It was simple for him to learn the combos to use for attacks. Great for young children.

For Kirby fans, this game is an excellent experience concerning the new powers. The freedom to experiment and create power combinations is very enjoyable, and many powers have distinct advantages over others. In fact, there are about 3 power combinations that make the rest of the game rather simple, provided you can hang on to them through the obstacles. Some parts are definately more difficult than others, but none of the game is impossible. For that reason this game is fun for all ages, but better for the younger ages. The game has an average replay value, as there is a "complete ending" for collecting every crystal in the game, but nothing left afterwards.

There are also several basic multi-player games, but don't get too excited: they're nothing like actual Kirby. It's the kind of thing you might see in a Mario Party game (in fact, you HAVE seen some of them in Mario Party). If you're hoping for a multi-player Kirby, you'll be better going back to the SNES version.

This is a great adventure game. In this game you can play as a pink sucking Kirby. You get different abilities by sucking your enemies and eating them. Combining two types sometimes creates an even better ability. In the game you go through different levels on planets and fight bosses to continue to the next planet. Overall I think this is a relatively easy game to figure out, however some of the later levels and bosses can be a little bit of a challenge.

My 11 year old loves all things Kirby, so we actually had to go out and buy a used Nintendo 64 so he could play this game. I know he enjoys it because when his friends come over they all congregate around the Nintendo 64 and ignore the newer game systems.

This is an excellent game for all ages, its good for younger children and some older children might like it once they try it... great for kirby fans too.

All the different features, modes, levels, etc. of the game make it good and I like the way you control it.

This would be probably the 4th or 5th favorite game on my Nintendo 64 list. I recommend it :-)

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards was a great game for the N64(Nintendo 64)and still is, also continuing on the Virtual Console for the Wii system. The game provided hours of play depending how you decided to play, such as speeding through the game or taking time to collect all crystal shards and battle the unexpected return of Zero(0) but know as Zero-Two(02) and also had a new look similar to an angel's. Unlike previous Kirby titles when Kirby obtained a copy ability his appearance would not change,EXAMPLE: in Kirby SuperStar if Kirby was to swallow a flaming Leo(a fire type enemy that gives you a fire ability)Kirby would obtain a head of fire indicating his copy ability, but if Kirby was to swallow a fiery enemy in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards Kirby would remain his original appearance,a pink puff ball rather than a red Kirby with a flaming head. But with that minor setback the game is still great for even the most hardcore of all Kirby fans. The game's gameplay is similar to previous Kirby titles in the series, but this being the first 3-D game in the bunch makes the levels more exciting to play through. The controls are quite similar as well, tap A repeatedly and Kirby will inhale air in float, but eventually will become to full of air and drop back to the ground. The B button provides Kirby to inhale the enemy to gain a copy ability, but if B is pressed with an enemy still in Kirby's mouth, the enemy will be exhaled and can damage or even destroy another enemy. The C buttons provide Kirby the ability to take the enemy in his mouth and hold it above his head and throw it at another enemy if needed, this also worked with copy abilitys except instead of throwing an enemy Kirby would actually throw the copy ability to possibly combine it with another or to just get rid of it. The D-pad is very similar if not the same as the classic titles, such as left and right on the D-pad would move Kirby to either left or right and down would allow Kirby to swallow an enemy an obtain a copy ability. Due to the controls if you are a formal Kirby player you should be a pro at Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards in no time, And that pretty much is Kirby 64:The Crystal Shards in a nutshell for you, until next time this is FinalDarkness64 signing out.

This game is very fun and has hours of fun. It is a must have. You do not need the instructions or strategy guide.
Ebay is a great place to get this game.

i can this at least. it's way better than yoshi's story. yoshi's story was just a sad side scroller. this one has charm but it is a bit too easy in terms of difficulty. you can probably get through this with casual play in a week or 2.
