Brigandine: The Legend of Forsena (PlayStation, 1999)

Brigandine is an enjoyable strategy RPG game. There is replay potential by playing as the leader of different countries. Each ruler has their own supporting cast of characters and unique personality. The game has three difficulty levels and the hardest level is tough to beat. Players can wage war campaigns in any style that suits their imagination or personality. One can play defensively, agressively, attack one town or several, send all of your spare players off on exploration quests -- whatever you choose. Very few games are nonlinear enough to allow this freedom of game play. Rival leaders can and WILL fight back to retake territory that you have previously conquered, if you don't plan your city defenses well or upgrade your characters at every opportunity. Exploration of distant lands yields stronger weapons, armor, additional allies, etc. Characters level up and morph at levels ten and twenty. Maximum character level is thirty. On the easy and normal levels the game IS not hard to beat after you become familiar with how the game plays, master the building of strong characters, and learn defense. On the first two levels there is enough of a challenge to make the game interesting, without being so hard that the game is frustrating. This RPG is fun for beginners and experienced RPGers.

Definitely one of those games you'll want in your collection. It's a game that combines both strategy and RPG elements. It's not your standard RPG, but you'll like the leveling and gameplay of the game, and unlike other RPG's you'll to employ some type of setup and attack in your strategy to gain an edge. The game is usually more fun, when you're on the losing end, it forces you to be much more creative. Colorful characters, interesting side stories. Though a tad repetive in the things you can do, it's rather a kin to Dragon Force. Lots of equipment to get lots to customize. Highly recommended.

I just have to reiterate what just about everyone else has said. The gameplay is exciting and full of neverending fun. Ive spent hours designing battle formations and grouping for knights. It's like Risk and Chess got together to have a baby and this is what came out.

The individual battles are great, they look realistic for each matchup. The strategy for overall battles is endless and you have time to move animals and men into position. The game starts off very challenging for the fist six months, once you learn how to position you magic users for protection and maximum attack you do have find ways to handicap yourself for full enjoyment of the game. Im an older player with an Ed.D. in education and love strategy games, I have played this game since it first came out when I purchased it new at Best Buy and have hundreds of hour playing this game, with a little creativity you can play this game forever and each game will be different.

The game really works great. I really enjoy this game and look forward to spending many hours playing.

This game is truly a video game legend when it comes to RPG's. It has reasonably good graphics, you can play for hours and hours and it's just amazing! Price aside it is worth it to own this game.

This is a very rare game and I am very happy that I bought it and i will be very excited when I get it. Thanks for the game. I have been looking for it for a while and now finally. At last I will be able to play it again.
