21, Boring Down the House

Perhaps i ran with this title in the wrong order: perhaps if i read the book before i saw the movie it would have been more gripping. As it was, the characters in the book were flat, the 'protagonist' about whom this book revolves is drab, and the story itself is (rather remarkable considering it's Vegas) boring. The characters created for the film (which the film, incidentally, takes repeated, remarkable liberties with the book's storyline) are more substantiative, and certainly more like- and unlikeable. It really isn't often a movie is better than the book on which it's based. This is inarguably one of those times.
A two to three-day book ... and you'll leave it no more entertained, educated or awed than when you started.
