2007 Brookman by David MacDonald (2006, Paperback)

The Brookman Price Guide is not my first choice of US stamp catalogues because it is not as comprehensive and informative as the Scott Catalogue. Nevertheless, it is a good source for the US collector. Stamps are identified by Scott number, and all the stamps shown can actually be purchased from Brookman at the prices listed. Earlier editions have black and white illustrations and do not show every stamp available in the marketplace. Brookman does price mint sheets and autographed covers, however, which Scott does not. I also find Brookman's First Day Cover section more informative than Scott's. The major advantage of Brookman over Scott lies in the spiral bound format. The spiral bound version of the Brookman Price Guide is well worth the extra money because it is very easy to work with. Pick one up and compare for yourself.

Easy to follow guide. Wish there was more color pictures. My 11-year-old son was able to go thru an old box of stamps we had and find matches. Good book for a novice like me and my son.
