Former child star Tyrese (a native of the Watts district of LA, hence the title) has come up with a slinky selection of contemporary R&B that'll be sure to win him a place in the hearts of aficionados of after-hours crooning everywhere. 2000 WATTS rarely strays from its well-oiled, seductive path, even with an explosively sexy song such as "Off the Heazy," and that's to Tyrese's credit.
Such low-key, smooth, and erotic songs as "Housekeepin'" and "Bring You Back My Way" will go far to cement Tyrese's claim as a contemporary pretender to Al Green's pre-gospel lover-man title. Though "I Like Them Girls" isn't exactly subtle, its incredibly catchy chorus sticks with you long after 2000 WATTS has meandered off in the general direction of the boudoir.

Editorial Reviews
3 stars out of 5 - ...A phenomenal voice....slickly tripping R&B...
Q (09/01/2001)

...The resurrection of decent R&B....endorsing clubbing, one-night stands and good ol'-fashioned when-boy-meets-girl themes....His strengths lay in the 'Sweet Lady' type ballads that thrust him into MTVs limelight...
The Source (07/01/2001)

...Emotional and funky...with pure pop appeal...Superproducers Rodney Jerkins, Jermaine Dupree, Babyface and others add wattage to an album that will surely inspire involuntary head nods and dancefloor abandon. - Rating: B+
