Album Notes
The Turtles includes: Mark Volman, Howard Kaylan (vocals).
Producers: Bones Howe, Joe Wissert, Chip Douglas, Ray Davies, The Turtles.
Compilation producers: Mark Volman, Howard Kaylan (Flo and Eddie).
The Turtles took a pop approach to folk-rock sound. They first charted with "It Ain't Me Babe," a song by Bob Dylan. Their subsequent hits were penned by a range of songwriters found in the Los Angeles area during the mid- to late-'60s, including P.F. Sloan, Harry Nilsson, Warren Zevon, and folk singer Judy Sill. The band eventually turned to writing, with "Elenore" being their most well known number. This set is the perfect overview of their catchy songs. Fronted by two unlikely pop stars, Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, the portly duo found continuing fame throughout the '70s singing as Flo & Eddie (most notably with Frank Zappa). Their entwined voices soared with an ease that belied just how skilled they were as vocalists.

Editorial Reviews
4 Stars - Excellent - ...their identity was carved by...playful, irreverent songs....There are worthy comparisons to The Byrds, Beach Boys and Beatles here.
