Lindsay Boxer is a San Francisco homicide investigator and she is called to a most disturbing crime scene in which a bride and groom have been killed on their honeymoon night. As Lindsay begins the investigation another murder takes place...the same M.O......a bride and groom on their honeymoon night. What kind of sicko killer is she up against? The investigation seems to lead nowhere so she turns to her friend, the medical examiner on the case. Both women enlist the help of an investigative reporter and the assistant D.A. to form a club known as "The Women's Murder Club." Each does their own investigating and they meet to compare notes. As they go through the pieces they come upon on item that peaks their interest greatly. There is an unpublished author whose book depicts each of these same murders in detail. They don't have any concrete evidence against the author just yet, but twist and turns keep taking them here and there in a spinning thriller suspense until the end of the book and the shocking revelation.
I finally got around to reading this series by Mr. Patterson, which I feel now I grossly over-looked! "1st To Die" is the first novel and it is wonderfully written and I just love the group of woman who take charge to find the killer, which would have been almost impossible if done on their own. There are devastating health issues Lindsay is dealing with but she never lets it stop her, in fact I think it keeps her going stronger. The plot is fast paced and the mystery itself is one you love, because it is full of the usual twist and turns and you'll have a time guessing. I can see where Mr. Patterson uses his expertise from his Alex Cross series to weave this tale. Fans will not be disappointed. I just wish I had started reading them earlier, but I read this book in one day!
