English ceramic Lustreware reference book
Review created: 07/23/06(updated 07/24/06)
This book provides wonderful and superb quality color photographic illustrations, essential for proper coverage and understanding of this specialised type of ceramic decoration. It is good to see that the publisher has ensured that over half of the 300+ illustrations are in color, and which also show some of the rarest pieces which have never been seen in print before.
Large quanities of lustreware were exported from England to the United States in the nineteenth century, and this book includes examples from the vast but little known Gutman collection in the United States.
The author, Michael Gibson, is one of the foremost authorities on lustreware ceramics.
