Album Notes Louis Nelson was the longest-lived of the original Preservation Hall jazz musicians, and a New Orleans musical treasure. In the late 1970s, the trombonist undertook a European jaunt alongside pianist/fellow New Orleans jazz vet Alton Purnell and New Orleans drummer/relative youngster Barry Martyn, along with Berlin's White Eagle band. The results are, as one might expect, a mix of rollicking, old-school tailgate-style sounds, and sweet, swinging lyricism.
