Living up to the old adage "give the drummer some," Gene Krupa became one of the first drum superstars during the height of the big band/swing craze of the 1930s. He was a pioneer of the drum solo and played with the likes of Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey before starting his own series of trios and quartets. This French import release showcases some of his later work with those small ensembles.
