18th Century Embroidery Techniques
I have always had an interest in the needle arts, ever since I learned to embroider at eight years old. I also have a fascination with period dress from the 1700's and early 1800's. This book describes in detail how and why people embroidered clothing in this time period. The sections are neatly arranged by style of embroidery and materials used. My only peeve about this book is there are not enough color photographs showing detailed embroidery. There are several line drawings to show detail, but not photographs. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in historical costuming and embroidery technique.
