Albert makes you feel like part of the family with his personal approach in autographing his books. His literary works come to life with the characters of the past. Owning a piece of of his work is a privlage indeed. The best of luck in bringing your work to the big screen.

I HAVE BEEN IN LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR THE PAST 13 YEARS, AND I STILL CANT GET ENOUGH OF THE INTEL AND HISTORY OF THE MAFIA. I HAD MR.DEMAEO SIGN THE BOOK FOR ME. THE BOOK IS VERY HARD TO PUT DOWN. I BROUGHT TO WORK, SO I COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO READ AT WORK."AS IF I DONT HAVE ENOUGH TO DO. THIS WAS A GREAT ADDITION TO MANY ITEMS I HAVE COLLECTED. THANK YOU FOR ALOWING ME TO DO THIS REVIEW. A fantastic book by man who has lived 8 lifetimes, and has survived a very long ride. As some one who can relate to becoming a man at a very young age against his will, Albert is the survivor of a life most people can't even begin to imagine. A great story well told. A book that I found hard to put down. Well done Albert! And thanks for the signed copy, a book I will treasure. A book worth reading! Thanks Albert !

  Excellent reading
Review created: 01/04/10(updated 01/29/10)

This is probably the best book I have ever read. The author gives the truth, while giving details about his own personal life that few authors would be willing to admit. I could identify with some parallels from my own life, and the authors own personal feelings really hit home.

  Couldn't recommend more highly
Review created: 09/21/09

I very rarely review any purchases, but this is the first time a book moved me so much that I thought it was worth while! The book gives real incite into the true impact of the mafia on the lives it affected within it's own ranks. The very personal and honest writing of DeMeo had me hooked, fascinated and very moved. The personal message from the author also made this particularly poignant for me, and now one of my treasured posessions.

Very well written. The author pulled me into the story and I felt as though a part of the story. A trajic life for a young person whose love for his father clouds the reality of who he really is. A great read and insight into organized crime. I highly recomend the book.

Pretty neat depiction of Al's life as son of Roy DeMeo
Review created: 06/15/09

I bought the book and enjoyed it very much. Pretty quick read if you are anxious to hear what life in the DeMeo household was like. I am older than Al Demeo (I was born in '59 in Joisey) and with an Italian mother, I have to admit so much of what he described that went on was exactly what was happening in my house. I.E. the Christmas, Easter, Sunday dinners, etc. etc. What was different in my house was that my Dad didn't make late night trips to the Gemini Lounge on Flatlands Ave. in Brooklyn to meet with Anthony, Nino and Joey. I sometimes wish I grew up in Brooklyn though. Al does a good job in the book by taking a little further after his Father was murdered. There were things that occurred in Al's life afterwards that many of us never knew about. The Walter Mack (D.A.-Attorney General ??) stuffed shocked me because I had business dealings with Walter just a few years ago and never knew he was so instumental in the taking down of the DeMeo crew, amongst many others. The part of the book I found hard to believe at times was the Mob exposure that Roy gave to his young son. Taking him to the Ravenite to meet Neil?? C'Mon. Having him pick up his loan shark payments before the age of 15? WOW !! I have to believe it's all true, but must admit it was hard to fathom. I also didn't know that Roy left his family so "well-off" financially. The book is good, I recommend it, but I feel it has better potential as a movie. This story needs to be made into a motion picture. It could be a box office smash "hit" (lol) because of all the interest in the Mafia from the 60's - 70's and 80's. Take Al Demeo's story and make a movie, PLEASE !!!!

For The Sins of My Father
Review created: 05/14/09(updated 05/14/09)

A fascinating look into the life of a mafia hitman. The book brings to light the fact that someone described as "mob assassin" and leader of a gang known as "Murder Machine" can be a good father to his children and friend to many others also. Albert DeMeo's book shows his father Roy DeMeo's life was not all mafia and murder. The books shows how his father's life has affected his own life and that of his family. A solid read that you won't be able to put down. It's better than watching an episode of The Sopranos because it's true. I hope to see the book made into a film but the book is still the best way to learn the truth from someone who lived it.

Very interesting book.
A life that most of us cannot imagine.
The prevalent theme is a man's love for his family and his ability to separate both work and daily peril from the safe and comfortable trappings of home.
A great read!

  Sins of My Father
Review created: 01/12/09

First of Albert Demeo is a mans man, very open and honest and he shows true courage in the life he was born into. Mr. DeMeo makes no excuses about his fathers involvement in certain crimes, he also lets you know another side of a man who loved and protected his family. I grew up in some of the same circles as Mr.Demeo and understant anything can happen at anytime to anybody, which is a tough way to live. Hopefully someday I would have the honor of meeting Mr. Albert Demeo and congradulate him for his honesty and strength to write this in my opinion a best seller.
