I have always liked this movie. The music is fantastic, the story is great, and the casting, in my opinion, could not have been better. The theme of course is the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. While you know what happens at the end of the movie, you get a view of the events that are interesting. Especially is the discussion of slavery. The personalities of these men were explored perfectly. The letters that are read occasionally throughout the movie add a touch of what was happening while the politicians set away from all the action discussing the points that would lend themselves to our great document.
Being a student of history I find it interesting to know what happened to almost every man who signed the Declaration.
A great movie, great music, and a great theme.
