This is a cute game, it's the first of it's kind.
Pretty creative if you ask me.
You are a photographer, seeking to capture rare Pokemon on film.
Lure them out with bait, wait for the right moment, focus, then press the shutter.
After the level, review your film and choose the best pictures.
A bit of a child'd game, but you can't help enjoying it!

A friend of mine had this game and I really liked playing it. So I finally bought myself one, as I did with Starfox 64 and Mario Kart 64. It's a pretty short game. You go to different locations to take pictures of Pokemon, to complete an area you need a picture of every Pokemon in that area but you get them all right away, as the game progresses, you get items that help you to lure certain Pokemon out, like the Apple, Smoke Ball, and Pokeflute. To get to these, you need a certain amount of Pokemon pictures taken, as well as opening new areas. And to get a couple new areas, you need to open a secret path from another area. After completing a certain amount, you have to find Pokemon 'signs', there's one in every area, doing so opens up the last level, where you can take pictures of Mew... its the only one there but it's hard to do, though you can just keep coming back. You ride in a vehicle that goes on land, water, and can fly, it goes automatically so you can focus on taking pictures. You can have only one of each Pokemon's picture to get the points on, but you can put pictures you like in your album to look at.

I haven't played this game ever. I bought it because my girlfriend wanted it for her birthday...she is 19 and still plays video games...that's cool! Anyways, she says that the game is fun to play, but not really great. Just fun.

Great fun for the whole family. This was purchased for a five year old boy. Though this is an older Pokemon game, it was still enjoyed by all my children ages 5 - 15. My oldest son actually owned this when he was about six, and enjoyed playing it again. It's mostly taking good pictures of different types of pokemon to score different points and unlock different levels. I would recommend for something different and something the whole family can play safely with no violence or offensive material.

I purchased this game for my daughter, and she loves it. It's very enjoyable to watch her take pictures of all the different pokemon, and my 4yr old can sit and point out all the pokemon she knows as well. Great game for children.

I bought this because I used to play it when I was younger. Its a good past time and i was interested in purchasing games for nintendo 64. I loved this game. I babysit quite a bit as well and this game is perfect for children. Very entertaining and provides a more creative outlet than many other video games.
If you have children interested in cameras and taking pictures this will be perfect for them!

  Fun Photography Game for N64

This is a fun Pokemon game that challenges you to catch them all through a camera lens. The game offers different levels that you travel through trying to take pictures of all the Pokemon in the game. Each level is a different habitat with different Pokemon. It is somewhat challenging, but is mostly just a relaxing game to play. This game is great for people that like Pokemon and/or photography.

My 7 yr old DOESN"T LIKE IT!!
Review created: 09/06/06
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Well, I have a 7 yr old and he is a Pokemon fanatic!! He begged to have any games associated with Pokemon and I will have to tell you he and I both were pretty disappointed in the concept of this game.

The object is to snap pics of pokemon and return to have them critiqued by Prof. Oak.....and well, that's it.........

Maybe he is a little more used to the actual games that require more skill. If you are getting this for a younger child that is big into Pokemon, I would say it is great, but around 7 and older I think it is a bit on the boring side.

Hope this helps someone out there????

  Short, but a Blast!

I played this when it first came out (I am 38 now). I can't help it-I like Pokemon, what can I say? The concept is very different, and it is easy for any age, really-but to be honest, getting maximum points for the best shots possible takes some skill! Especially when trying to catch pictures of Pokemon that zip by really fast! The only gripe I EVER had about the game was that it was a little on the short side, and like any game, it gets old after awhile, but if you haven't played it in a long time or have never played it, it's easy to spend hours on end taking pictures of Pokemon. I highly recommend it for any age, and I can certainly think of a hundred garbage titles for Nintendo 64 that are infinitely worse than this one.

Great game for it's time and evermore!
Review created: 06/05/06

I love this game. It's so different! But of coarse that's what Nintendo is known for. I Pokemon lovers and haters alike can spend hours and hours on this game. Not to mention a few cool items that make the Pokemon do different things when used. I remember playing this game when it first came out, how exiting it was to play a photography game! And the movements are soooo real!
This game is funny too. Picture this; your sitting in a automatic convoy car, it's creepy, there are Haunters Eclectobuzz, and Electrode everywhere. Even a mysterious egg? And then you look past the autodoor after the Zubat rushes by and... you see a Pikachu laughing and having fun with a Diglett.
This game is just a fun, diverse, N64 classic. Nuff said.
However, the only way I could give this game a 5/5 rating, is if it had a better story.

  Fun game...
Review created: 05/28/06

It's an original idea and was only remotely popular because of the Pokemon hype that surrounded it. But with that said it is actually kind of fun. It does get old after awhile, but if you play in moderation you will always enjoy it.

Missed an old game from my childhood, so I decided to finally break down and buy it. Was a little disappointed that it was resetting itself at the beginning, but after a proper cleaning, it works beautifully. :)

  Picture Perfect!
Review created: 01/29/10

Pokemon Snap is a child-friendly rail-shooting game released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64. In this game it is put upon you by Professor Oak to take photos of all the Pokemon living on his island.

This game is extremely fun to play, and it is not difficult at all. Using the joystick to turn the camera, you can snap photos of tons of cute Pokemon, who will come out to see you! You can even throw apples to them and watch them eat happily. This is a game that is fun for all ages, as there is no violence to speak of, and it's just too darn cute to resist!

I decided to pick up this game because I remember how much fun I used to have playing it. Whenever a friend came over we'd sit and play for hours, fighting over who got the controller next.

I absolutely recommend this game. I guarantee that whether you're 8 or 38 you will enjoy this fun photo shooting game!

  Oh SNAP!!
Review created: 01/07/10

Having grown up with Pokemon, it's always had a special place in my heart. This game is nothing like the Pokemon RPGs for Gameboy. But it's still incredible!! A bit on the easy side, this game can be beaten in an evening. Nevertheless, it's still a worthwhile trip. You get to roam around and take pictures of Pokemon. It's actually more exciting then it sounds. However, due to the brevity of the game, as well as its easy nature, don't pay more than $7 for this title.
