LEFT AN IMPRESSION BACK IN THE DAY !!!

This game was the best horror game I've ever played in my life. It left a mark on me, that up to this day I still remember how good the story was. It is very difficult to beat and very challenging. This version led the way for all the other 3 versions that came after it. If you've never played it before I recommend playing it. If this is the first time you heard about it, I suggest you check this out. The puzzles were very confusing back in the day and I only got 2 different endings out of the 5 possibles ( I heard there were 5 ); and not only that but the endings that I got were the BAD and the VERY POOR ( not sure if those were how they called it ).

  Best Horror RPG Game ever

At first, I was reluctant to buy this game when it came first at 1999, I thought it would be another boring repeatitive sequence of another game, but I was wrong, very wrong... everything was new, every time I spent my time playing, makes me believe that it was me whose actually playing the game, Konami made it so realistic that I was scared that I stopped playing for several days, until I continue again playing... every penny i spent to this game was worth it... to the point that I seaked for a sealed one to buy just to have it as a collection.... I gave this game a perfect score, to me this game was so advanced at that time, that it made the other game looked like Pacman. Buy it and see for your self.

  ITS JUST OK!!!!!!!!!!

It's a fun game but the fun ware off kind of quick. I'm waiting for something to happen, but it seem too long. According to the walk thru I look at I'm about half way thru the game, and nothing major has happened. Maybe the pay off is at the end of the game, but I'm not sure I'll go that far with the writers. Maybe this game is for you but it not for me. It was worth the value for me because it only cost me $9.99. Maybe something good happen just around the corner. The monster are unique, and the story seems standard to other Silent Hill games, I enjoyed the first one a lot, but never got to beat it, and was hoping this would fill that gap. Guess I was wrong.

I'm a bit confused...did you not say this was a complete package? Upon arrival, the only thing that came was the game and the store case; no artwork or manual included. So, I ended up paying $41 for something I could've gotten at a game store for $17. If you were looking to screw someone, congratulations.

  The Best one

I think that this is the best silent hill. Even with dated graphics, they arnt bad for when they came out. Also the fact that the characters have voices and you dont have to read everything makes it great. The game can be completed in a few hours if you know what your doing, but it wont seem like a couple of hours, and thats not a bad thing. This game has some scary moments, my favorites come when your in the school, but if you havnt played i wont give them away. I would say this is a must try for everyone.

  Silent and Deadly Hill

The game is a definate for nighttime play. What a classic. It scares the crap outta my girlfriend and she begs me not to play it. But its a great game all around. Everytime I hear that siren go off, I know something is about to creep me out. What's better than u opening a locker that is seemingly occupied my something and then finding out its a cat, but then the next time during the darkness you visit the same seemingly occupied locker and opening it to find a dead body with a key around its bloody neck. I beat this back in 1999 when it first came out and I had to get it again thanks to the movie coming out in theaters. I also like the music in it so much that I sampled it and made a hiphop beat from it. Came out dope. All around great creepy game.

Silent Hill; The Fire Still Burns Underground
Review created: 05/01/06

The Silent Hill series is probably one of the most terrifing games on the market. From bloody decapitated dog heads, to burning babies, each step you take in the game is heart-racing. Now a Major Motion Picture, which pulled together Silent Hills 1-3 into a totally new story. It's sticky fun.

WARNING: Highly Disturbing Images and Intense Gore
Rated: M for Maure (17+)

My personal opinion: I just can't play it alone in the dark. The white noise that you hear when evil approaches gets to me. And I'm not usually easy to scare. By the way, the movie was fantastic, a must see. Also, don't show the game to your 10 year old cousin, the M rating is there for a reason.

Best game of the series. From the amazing atmosphere to the fascinating storyline and even to the hidden references to novelists, experimental music groups and horror films, this title has it all. A classic.

  Game: Silent Hill

Got the goose bumps when saw the movie and strut down the memory lane when I was still playing Silent Hill.

The first Silent Hill was released in 1999 for the Sony PlayStation. The plot of the game was centered around Harry Mason arriving in Silent Hill and his subsequent attempts at finding his lost daughter, Cheryl. During the progress of the game, the protagonist Harry finds that his adopted daughter Cheryl has a rather disturbing past as the details of her genesis are revealed. -wikipedia

Story:****
It plays with the idea of a ‘realistic’ and the ‘hellish’ form of one place called Silent Hill. Each clue was planted properly for you to understand what ever ending you’ll get.
Graphics:****
At that time, it was way ahead than the other game graphics.
Gameplay:***
Clues are not too hard to crack and move on, though there are some things that you wouldn’t care about, and at the end was the key reason why you had a different ending.
Controls:****
At first it was hard to work with the controls and you’ll die easily in the hands of the fetus guys with knives. After a few minutes, everything would run smoothly and you’ll get the hang of it.
Nightmare material: ***
I dreamt of the part where the VHS tape was inserted and a ‘The Ring’-like video was shown. Full effect, got me awake the whole night.

If you are squeamish, don't play this game. If you frighten easily, don't play this game. If you want to play one of the best games of all time, go buy it. This is one of those games I rented and immediately went out and bought. I am an adult male and I had to sleep with my bathroom light on. This game is psycologically numbing and creepy. And not a very easy game, either. Any one not giving this game a top rating is either a woos or it was too hard for them. You better pick up a walk through guide. The Brady version had two mistakes, so check their website.

  The definition of psychological terror
Review created: 05/23/07

This game is my first love. The first time running into murderous children and the scene after that had me hooked. The game still stands the test of time after all of these years. Yeah, the graphics are outdated, but who cares. These games always had good graphics, but nothing like Final Fantasy caliber. The real heart behind this game is the story, characters, atmosphere, etc.

The game's plot is both simple and complicated. Basically Harry is searching for his daughter Cheryl through the mysterious and foggy town. You follow him on his journey in search for his daughter and the horrors he experiences. The story has many metaphorical and deep aspects of it that I'll let the reader see for themselves. These games don't tell you everything, not trying to explain everything for you so you can interpret things for yourself.

The gameplay is similar to the Resident Evil games in control aspect. Harry isn't a cop or a Marine, thus he is just normal human in a bad situation. The menu system here is great, not crappy like Silent Hill 4.

The music is another defining element of the game. Creppy sounds, haunting songs, and beautifully sung songs.

Experience this game or you are missing out...

My daughter had been playing other versions of Silent Hill and wanted Silent HIll 1 so badly for her birthday. I was thrilled to be able to buy it for her and get it for an excellent price considering it came in a sealed case brand new never opened. She was thrilled and so was I to be able to give it to her.

  Silent Hill

This is the one that started it all. While Jill Valentine was blasting away zombies just outside of Raccoon City in the original Resident Evil, Konami threw in their contribution to the survival horror genre with Silent Hill.

At first, things seem confusing when you enter Silent Hill, but keep in mind, that is how you are supposed to be. Can't see in front of you? Good! All vital elements to such a psychological horror game.

An excellent game and a stellar gem in the survival horror series. Not many come close!

Scariest game to date for any system!

When I first played this game when it came out, I was scared out of my pants. I played it with ALL the lights off and the stereo system up. The creepy factor is far beyond any game to date! The action sequence could need a little tune-up,but besides that it was AWESOME! If you haven't played this game yet, you need to go out and get one.

  The game you can't forget

Its a first of its kind I belive. In the time of mario brothers, and such it was the first to be horror themed basied. Granted you have to look at it as a new story not used yet. The screen moved well and it kept you on your toes. I heard the movie was coming out and I loved the game when it was new. So I had to have a copy and I'm 35. Got a book as well and let the old times fly as I spent 3 hours on it the first night.

I am a huge fan of role playing/adventure games especially scary ones. The story line is very in depth which I loved it wasn't a game just about shooting other enemies. The mini cinemas throughtout the game have very good graphics also! There are 5 endings to the game. The first one I had poor but the second time I had very good! It is fun to see the different endings. It really is like having 5 games in one!

Considerations when playing Silent Hill on PS3
Review created: 03/03/09
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

As of this writing*(March 2009), the original Silent Hill is one of the higher-priced Playstation 1 games. The game itself is a one-of-a-kind experience and is a worthwhile reference piece of console gaming atmosphere and story.

However, those buying now with the intention of playing the game on any version of the PS3 should note that the game is plagued with a sound glitch that occurs when shooting enemies in any "outdoor" environment in the game. The only workarounds for dealing with this glitch are temporary, involving going to the in-game option menu *SELECT button* and switching the sound option between the two options (Stereo to Monaural or Monaural to Stereo -it doesn't matter which setting it is on, it just has to be switched to whichever of the two is not on-) after every main loading sequence (i.e. after going through certain doors, after cutscenes) BEFORE using a gun on any enemy. The glitch can be stopped after it has started by equiping a manual weapon such as the knife.

All of this information and more can be found on the GAMEFAQs Silent Hill board.
