  The Thirteenth Floor (1999,DVD)
Review created: 06/12/06

This is not the "Matrix", nor should it be confused with that genre! The Thirteenth floor will make you think twice, about what it is that you perceive to be as your little piece of reality. This a slick little classic sci-fi mystery movie that is low on action, high on thought provocation. There is some action but it only serves to build the tension, not smother it! The same goes for the special effects, they only help tell the story not define it. You need to watch this flick several times and see all the little subtle things that tie the story together that your going to miss with just one viewing! This film and "Dark City" were overlooked at the box office because the Matrix came out that same year. Craig Bierko and Gretchen Mol do a fine job in these rolls, and Vincent D'onofrio is at his split personality best! SOOOO what I'm trying to say is BUY youself a copy of this movie put it in the DVD player, push the play button and sit down and ENJOY!!!

  Holograph
Review created: 12/07/09

Science fiction, intertaining and good for getting the mind thinking with a twist at the end.

Can open the door to considering the possibiity of this life being a holograph?? After all it's all energy and we were created in the image of God to be creators with the energy he has given us to use with the free will He also gave to us. Hmmmm, maybe we are creating holographs nowadays, but maybe we have also created the "holograph" of this life and still have a say in how it plays out by using our thoughts, intentions, speech, and emotions - something to consider and this movie presents that possibility.

  Visit the 13th floor!
Review created: 10/24/09

I like to think of this as a science fiction thinkers read.

Contains a little bit of: mystery, thriller, detective murder mystery and good ol' SF.

Good endings always do that to me.

Intesting visuals

One of my top ten favorites.

Having a background in Molecular Physics, I most like it because it is similar to our own reality. The more we study our make up at the atomic level, the more we realize that our world is an electrical presentation much like The 13th Floor.
I was really glad that I found it on eBay, for that reason.

I really loved this movie. It's in the vein of The Matrix where what you think is real may not be real. But in my opinion, this movie is a whole lot better than The Matrix movies.

Silly sci--fier with confusing virtual reality plot
Review created: 06/05/07

Silly sci-fier with a confusing virtual reality plot, and a lot of visual effects. An investigation into the mysterious death of tycoon Hannon Fuller (Mueller-Stahl) leads to the realization that he lived in parallel worlds, one in the present and one in 1937. Exec Douglas Hall (Bierke) stands to inherit, which raises the suspicious cop Mc Bain (Haysbert) while mysterious femme Jane (Mol) shows up, claiming to be Fullers daughter. And then theres Halls colleague Whitney (D'Onofrio) who also exists in the 1937 world as a barkeep with a very important letter. Not that any of this turns out to be particularly interesting. Average but nothing more.

  Ever played "The Sims"?
Review created: 02/02/07

If you have ever played "the sims" computer game you HAVE to watch this movie! It was excellent and I could tear myself away. I am really good at quessing where the movie is going to take me and find most very predictable. This movie shocked me. It is one to watch over and over. You get more out of it every time.

  What is reality?
Review created: 09/30/06

I recently bought a DVD of this movie. It really makes you question reality. The 13th floor is the located of a computer system that does a simulation of 1930 Los Angeles. The special effect are great in recreating old Los Angeles. If I think, am I real? A bartender in simulation realizes that his world in not real. The action of this movie slowly builds to the climax. Another movie that makes people question their exitences is Solaris. I think this movie does a better job. I have read several sci-fi books with this premise before. This movie illustrates it perfectly.
