Back in 1997, Blast Corps served as an important reminder that not every game had to be a sequel to an existing franchise to pack mass appeal. Put together by British second-party developer Rare, Blast Corps is almost like a nostalgic trip back to the heydays of the NES or the time of Robotron and Missile Command. The game puts players behind the controls of current and futuristic destruction machinery with the objective of clearing a path for an out-of-control nuclear missile carrier. Released to very little media hype, Blast Corps quickly won the hearts of N64 owners by offering a well-rounded combination of destructive gameplay and intelligent puzzles, topped off with a rocking soundtrack and good graphics.

The game plot is basically someone has programed a red bomb car to blow up when it touches a stucture and you are the good guy saving the day by destroying and the building in the way of the car. It is really hard to reset all the levels because you have to do some weird thing when it starts. I do not recemend this game to people who are easily bored. This game gets on your nerves after a while. Thanks for viewing my guide :)

Blast Corps... A very inovative game for its time...
Review created: 11/08/09

I remember playing this when it first came out, and becoming addicted instantly. A game that pulls you in, because of its new concepts and challenges for you to beat.

I would have to say, the only problem with this game, is its replay value though. After you beat it once, you don't really wanna play it again for awhile. It usually takes me a good year or so before I've forgotten a lot about it, and want to play it again.

Other then the lack of replay value, a highly recommendable experience for the Nintendo 64, if you enjoy destroying things as a giant robot! Watching explosions and a giant robot act like a wrecking ball, is only so enjoyable though...

  One of the 64's best.

This game has a pretty cheezy plot, but it's playability is through the roof. Basically, you use various types of vehicles to destroy buildings before a truck with some nukes crashes into them and explodes. It's really easy to get into, the controls and graphics are great. A must have for anyone who owns the Nintendo 64.

ez,

Scott.

I rented this game several times back in the day. I got it here and I have to say I still like it but not as much. Worth the purchase though.

This game is one of the firsts that came out for N64, so its kind of lame. There's a good amount of action...but not so much in the area story, graphics, or anything else for that matter. It's just "Ehh.."

  :( Baffled+Boredom= Abandonment

Pros:
Graphics are smooth

Cons:
BAFFLING: If you are baffled it is a matter of time before you get BORED!

In Nintendo's first generation game, Blast Corp., tremendous brain power is required. This is not your typical Twisted Metal or shoot 'em up game! Only the most skillful game player should get their hands on this! For the general players, leave this up to the professional! It look simple, but don't let the smooth and tiny Tonka trucks deceive you! The Game World peace is quickly breaking down as panic is stirring a crisis that would bring "World War III." This is a result from leaking radiation coming from nuclear missiles. The missiles must be transported to a safe place free from harm. ...

Pros:
good graphics

Cons:
little replay value

Rare is a company the produces a lot of great games. However, Blast Corps for the Nintendo 64 is not one of them. For a better representation of what Rare can do, check out Goldeneye: 007 for the N64. Anyways, back to the subject on hand...Blast Corps is an alright game for a little while. The problem is, well, let's check out the low-down on this title. Graphics This is one of the better aspects of the game. The graphics appear a little bit blurry, but I suppose it is better than it looking blocky because of being too sharp. For being one of the first titles, this has some really pleasing...

  A nice change of pace

Pros:
Different type of game, many varieties of game styles, huge replay value

Cons:
The announcer can get very irritating, large learning curve

Ever so often in a crowded market of first person shooters, RPG's and racing games, there is a game that stands out as being different. Sometimes different means bad, but not in the case of Blast Corps. Rare has shown with this game that there is still room for new, intuitive control schemes. I purchased this game because of its appealing concept of mindless destruction, blasting through buildings and leveling entire cities. The storyline for the game is this: a runaway truck carrying a nuclear missle is leaking and it has to get to its destination as fast as possible. So in order for to...

  Gotta Love Mass Destruction
Review created: 12/23/99
by: Area51 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Diverse selection of vehicles, good graphics, and an original plot

Cons:
None

Blast Corps was the first game in the 3rd party genre I have ever played, and I must say that it is, forgive the pun, a blast. It provides an original way of saving the world from nuclear destruction which is to destroy all infrastructure in the path of a runaway nuclear carrier. If the carrier crashes, the nukes will detonate and make Hiroshima seem like a firecracker. The fun thing about the game is that it gives you so many methods of destroying buildings from a bulldozer to a gigantic robot that flies above the buildings and lands on top of them. Mastering each vehicle is the challenging..

  Shouldn't have been made!
Review created: 01/11/00

Pros:
Nothing good about this game

Cons:
bad graphics, slow, bad storyline

This game should never been made. I mean they shouldn't have even thought about making this game. How anyone could find this game fun is far past me. I mean maybe running around blowing things up would be fun but not this. I mean for some reason this game sucks. The game play sucks it is slow, and the graphics are about as bad. They try to give you a variety of many thing but all the options they give you are horrible. I mean I am sure this game has a few good points, but I can't see through all the bad in this game. It is not worth your or your parent s money. You will play this game once...
