Advance wars, a turn based strategy game based around ground, sea and air units is by far one of the best made in last decade and its sequel black hole rising does not disappoint. The battle system in this game has all the units start with 10 hit points which are lost when being attacked or from a counter attack which happen automatically. Units lose offensive and defensive capabilities as they lose health so it is very important to plan ahead.
Advance wars 2 picks up shortly after the original left off with the black hole army almost pushing every other nation's forces into the sea. It is up to you to take the role of Commanding officer and take back your homeland.
The only differences between this game and its predecessor is the fact that you play as all the different nations in the campaign mode, not just orange star like the original. There are also a handful of new COs and single new unit the neotank, which make it easy to transition into this game. Players can also charge up for a super power move in addition to the usual power move, which is very similar but offers even more bonus's for that turn.
All in all if you are a fan of turn based strategy games you should definitely give this one a try, but you might want to start with the first. This game felt more like an expansion than a new game, but it is endlessly challenging through the campaign as well as the war room which has dozens of levels to unlock and master.
