101 WAYS TO USE YOUR FIRST SEWING MACHINE:

‘101 Ways to Use Your First Sewing Machine’ is an interesting book for inspiring beginning sewers, by offering many ideas for useful and practical projects in wardrobe and home décor’. The first chapter of the book includes a discussion tools and notions for getting started, and the second chapter of the book includes ideas for tailoring, making alterations and updating your wardrobe. There is also another chapter at the end of the book that includes general techniques for assembling some of the sewing pattern elements. The remaining chapters of the book emphasize home décor’ projects and are organized into themes of bedroom, bathroom, family room, kids things, and entertaining, with some additional ideas for making gifts. Although the back cover suggests that both wardrobe and home fashions are included, the majority of the book covers household projects like; pillows and cushions, shower curtains, arm chair organizers, tablecloths and napkins, placemats, draperies, seat covers, a headboard slipcover, a table cover and a children’s toy chest. It is generally a nicely presented book with plenty of instructions and photographs of sewing techniques.

Like the title say's, First Sewing Machine. I'm not sure why I bought this book. I've been sewing for years. It did have some great ideas for projects and actually did talk to the non-sewer. I think I'll give it to my daughter that's just starting to get into sewing. Like I said, A very good book for the beginner!

Pros: This book has many different styles and it takes you through them one by one. It starts out simple and then gets more advance with time. You dont even have to start from the front to get a good pattern:)

Cons: Lacks to give out all information,i.e. doesn't tell for a specific size or doesn't have size chart for certain things.

Overall this book has help My daughter, my son (yes my son likes to sew) and me get a feel for sewing and has brought us countless times that we cherish. I recommend this to anyone who likes to sew part or full time:)

I wanted this book to help me with mending articles of clothing. It has easy to follow instructions, pictures, and a LOT easy beginner projects! It has a section on updating clothing too, including adding embellishing touches on jeans! I recommend this book for anyone looking to make home accessories or those looking to do some easy alterations to clothes. It's just fun to look through!
