100 Greatest...but not in any order!!!

It was thoroughly enjoyable to go through each player and reminisce as well as learn some new things while also meeting some players for the first time other than perhaps some mentioj very early in my life. I purchased this book basically to review the career of Jerry Lucas who I watched very closely back in Ohio while growing up. Jerry Lucas was probably the best amateur basketball player ever and had the stats to back up that statement and his most amazing characteristic was that he truly unselfishly played and did not try to score much EXCEPT IN BIG GAMES WHEN HE WAS VERY NEEDED and then his play was just incomparable throughout high school, college, and in the Olympics. His Pro career was not the same BUT he just didn't really ever get into pro basketball and at one time was not even going to play in the pros but instead wanted to use his great intellect and educational background to do more meaningful things. He did have a great pro career but was not the same dominant and incomparable fore he was previously. I think if they had played him at his natural center position in the pros he would have been much better and had much higher stats and would have rivaled the very best centers in the league regardless of being a small center. Pound for pound he was the greatest rebounder ever at any level. Back to the book...it did not have the time to spend like I just did on any one player so I thought I would share my insight about Jerry Lucas in this review. Check out the book. Fun reading and informative for the basketball enthusiast. Well compiled.
