In reading this book, it is almost impossible to put down, but if you must, it is written as a journal in date order. It is remarkably descriptive, so much so that you feel you are there experiencing the devastation, the moods and feelings of the victims, the smell, wry humor, the strong palpable feeling of faith, of hope, of devotion to the land where they lived their lives for generations, demands that the Government put their B.S. politics
aside and help to get these folks rebuilding from the chaos they've had to endure for far too long.It has been the biggest disgrace I have ever experienced in our country and I am ashamed, knowing the suffering that continues TODAY. Chris Rose experiences the pulse of the victims, their children, families, neighbors and his conscience demands that he stay amongst his community members and motivate cleanup and renewal. It is easy to fall in love with New Orleans and Chris Rose.Their pure indomitable spirit reaches into my soul and has motivated us to sign petitions and attempt to move our Government into providing real aid to these families who have worked and paid taxes and supported their communities, schools, and businesses. We MUST not let it be given to greedy developers for their own profit and benefit.Thank you Chris Rose for the education and sharing your experience. It has and is profound and I want nothing more than to see the progress that is deserved and to visit once again to experience the culture, hospitality, history, music, art, food, dance, and mood of one of the most unique places on earth.God bless you Chris Rose and all of the people that suffered Katrina's wrath all through the south.
