Dell UltraSharp 2001FP (Gray) 20 inch LCD Monitor

I bought the Dell Ultrasharp 20.1" about 6 months ago and it is hands down the best monitor I have ever owned. I do a lot of video editing and this monitor is perfect because of the large screen area and very bright display. It has an adjustable stand that swivels and is perfect for getting to the wires in the back. I don't really use the picture in picture function or the USB hookups, but they are nice features to have. I highly recommend this product.

I know that Dell stock has recently taken a beating. However, if they continue to build quality products such as this, they are sure to turn the company around. I purchased this particular LCD monitor about 2 years ago now. It has been rock solid. One of the reasons why I purchased this monitor was because I played a lot of games and wanted a monitor with a good response time. It hasn't let me down yet.

The Dell LCD 2001FP monitor sports a ton of inputs that reside on the monitor's underside: DVI, VGA, S-Video, and Composite-Video-all at your disposal and ready to accept a variety of video signals. A picture-in-picture option lets you watch content from two different video sources - say, your PC and a TV - at the same time. Furthermore, the 2001FP can double as a four-port USB hub as long as it's connected to a USB port on your PC. I take advantage of this and hook up my Xbox to its S-Video port, and play on my PC monitor. Although, I still haven't figured out to connect it to get sound as well. As the monitor doesn't have any built in speakers.
I feel confident recommending this monitor for the vast majority of desktop chores as well as gaming. With all of the 2001FP's fine features, its proven ability to withstand the rigors of gaming, and a reasonable price tag for its size, it's an undeniable value for desktop users and an obvious winner in my book. My next LCD monitor will definitely be another Dell.

I have two of these monitors and it works great for any applications. For example, you can watch the movie one screen while search the net on the seconds screen...I like it more then a 24in wide screen

I bought this about a year after I bought the Dell Ultrasharp 2000FP b/c I was impressed with the 2000FP and man I was not disappointed with the 2nd one either. I have had this one for over 3 years and it is still working perfectly with no issues.

Pros: LCD clarity, Colors, Price, Durability, Dell Support and Drivers, Lightweight (for an LCD) and NOT bulky (fits in small spaces for its size), nice speakers mounted on the monitor for those who don't need extravagant speakers, adjustable height, Can flip from horizontal view to vertical view (nice to have), 4 inputs (count em 4)

Cons - none that I can think of.

Dell had it pretty close with the 2000FP but the only downside to that one was its bulk and weight. Well- they fixed that in the very next version. I have had this for 3+ years and the 2000FP for 4+ years and I am sitting looking at them side by side and they are close in quality but the size difference is astounding. I give this monitor a good work out 8-10 hrs a day (never gets turned off) and it still chugs along. I actually use it on 2 machines (analog input and digital input)

In my opinion - you probably can't find a better quality monitor for this price - its a deal and thats about how I would sum it up.

The monitor is everything anticipated--and more--AFTER new replacement of the included power transformer & VGA cable were accomplished.

I would make a similar purchase again--fully aware that the peripheral attachments may be compromised.

If a lot of screen is what you are looking for then this is it. I have owned it for a while now and never had a problem. There are no dead pixels or anything. I have bought other LCD Monitors before but, never have I had one this good. The size is incredible, it helps with all of the Photo and Video editing I am doing.

I bought this monitor for my brother, who wanted to run dual monitors and already had one. It showed up and was a super nice monitor. I had a Secptre X9 19" DVI as well and this monitor simply blew it out of the water. I liked it so well I got myself a 2005WFP and sold the Secptre.

P.S. If your running DVI MAKE SURE you use the white dvi cable that comes with the monitor, i have no idea why but a normal dvi cable wont change screen resolutions and you'll think there's something wrong with the monitor, use the dell cable and its awsome!

I am currently using the dell ultrasharp 2001fp in dual screen formation and love it. The resolution is absoluely great, clarity more than I could ask, an have had no problems whatsoever. Would highly recommend for a multitude of applications. I currently do high end CAD design but think that the monitor would work perfectly with gaming, word processing, or general web work. 1600x1200 resolution works out nicely and the wide screen layout gives ample workspace.

These monitors are excellent. I use one at work. After using that one for a while I found that I just had to have two of these monitors for use at home. I love the range of color shades that show up in this LCD compared to several others I have seen in the past. Images are as crisp looking as I have ever seen and the high resolution makes for plenty of viewing space. I haven't had a single problem out of any of the 3 that I use on a daily basis. I highly recommend this Dell monitor!

Very good monitor but has differences within the same model number. Dell should indicate features that might differ. Monitor has good color and size.

I currently have one of these that I bought new and wanted a second one. This second monitor is in good condition, but am a little disappointed in the brightness. I have the brightness setting all the way at 100 and it is still not as bright and sharp as my first one set at 50. Also, I am unable to change the contrast from 50 which is annoying. I think that could help. I've adjusted the brightness on my original monitor to more closely match this used one. So far I'm OK with it. Otherwise, the monitor works just fine; and I love having the two monitors.

I have found that for an office situation, it is much more beneficial to use a full screen monitor than it is to use a widescreen monitor. Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult to find full screen monitors. You can't find them at Best Buy, Office Depot, and even online stores like Tiger Direct and Newegg. My 2 year old 20" LCD died on me a few days before I bought this monitor, and I was very annoyed that I was going to be forced to use a widescreen to replace it. Fortunately, I stumbled across this monitor on ebay and never looked back.

The picture is fantastic, color depth is excellent (which is good because I do a lot of flyers and graphics related things for my job). This monitor also has the ability to be rotated sideways, which for some of the work I do makes like so much easier.

As far as positioning goes, this monitor has a wide range of adjustments. It has an easy to adjust height stand, a wide range of viewing angles, and very wide range of side to side rotation.

It has more connections than any computer monitor I have ever owned. They include VGA, DVI, S-Video, and Composite video as well as a 4 port USB Hub built in. A button on the front makes switching between the connectors very simple, and it does offer Picture in Picture functionality.

Overall, I rate this monitor a 5/5. I have yet to find a problem with it.

I have a Dell system with this same monitor I bought about 4-5 years ago, and I have always wanted two monitors that match. I had been using a HP 18" monitor which worked fine, but was a bit awkward when moving window displays from one monitor to the other. I had been looking on eBay for some time for this monitor and finally found one that fit my needs. As mentioned, this monitor is 4-5 years old, but is still crisp and clean and has a narrow bezel (border) which I like. I'd recommend this monitor as a good used monitor if you can find one!

couldn't be happier. dell's monitors are the same as apple's, except apple charges 6x the price a normal person would.

Great monitor with many bells and whistles. The bottom line is that the picture is excellent and the various funtions are easily understood and executed.

I like the size. I dislike the fact that you can not find parts for it like the logic board or power supply board. Getting through Dell's web site on parts and etc., is like waiting for a bus that never comes. It appears to me that they, Dell, all they want to do is sell you a new or refurbished monitor.

When the package arrived we found it well packed and secure in the container. Upon initial testing the monitor passed all the tests. We found no bad pixels, no picture issues beyond it was a slight bit darker than our 2007FP. Of course the 2007fp was new and the contract ratio was double the specification of the 2001fp. Colors were bright and vivid. We use these for cctv applications and the RCA composite video input came in as a very handy feature. It accept inputs from 2 computers using dvi or vga inputs as well as a composit video input. Selection of the input was made using a dedicated button on the front panel so it was not switching through all the monitor setting to find the input selection. It has a very clear set of indicators labeled 1, 2, 3 to give you a visual indication on what source you are on. We run our monitors at 1280 X 1024 and the monitor worked perfectly at that stting. This is a square or 4:3 aspect ratio so there is plenty of spce on the screen with it's 20.1 inch diagional size for pc applications. I don't know how a movie that's 16:9 will look. The monitor is compact and has a sturdy desk stand on it. All that given I can say the condition was underrated by the sellers description. This unit was as close to new as one can get without buying new. You usually get what you pay for or less but, every once in awhile you get a little more, this is definetly one of those times you get a little more. Very happy at the purchase and the speed the seller shipped the monitor. Also the costs of shipping were very fair. Hats off to a good, reputable ebay seller.
