Some of my memories are of seeing "The Unknown People" with my brothers and sisters gathered around the old Zenith and with total amazement seeing George Reeves in costume for the first time. Whatever George's feelings were about playing the comic book hero, there wasn't a kid in the bunch of us tiny tikes who didn't believe in Superman. Reeves remains for me the true Man of Steel. The second year box set seems to be some of the best of the Adventures of Superman. With nearly three years seperating the first and second seasons you can see the shift in tone from a hard-edged crime drama to a more humorous approach. There were still quite a few dramatic episodes, including the apex of the series, "Panic in the Sky", "Superman in Exile", and "The Defeat of Superman". Aside from the episodes, the best thing about this collection are the few, but excellent, features, a Valentine to the best Lois Lane in any version of the TV or movie exploits, Noel Neill. Besides a nice interview with this delightful lady, she's also paired with her old partner in crime, Jack Larson, to do audio commentary on their two favorite episodes, the aforementioned "Panic" and Larson's showcase for his wonderful comic talents, "Semi-Private Eye". This is a true treasure trove of Superman's TV exploits at their very best. The following year, the series would start its slow decline to eternal re-run heaven, a reduction in quality and the number of produced episodes that not even the change to full color would be able to help. At 46, i saw all these on tv as a child in reruns. seeing them again brings back so many fond memories. My son, 10, thought the shows were so stupid, but after a couple of episodes, he was hooked. we watched season 1 and season 2 and he was disappointed because we don't have season 3 and 4 yet. A priceless father son moment, one i will always cherish. if you were a fan when you were a child, spend the cash and share a part of your childhood with your children. it will be money well spent. ( Wife refused to let me use one of the good towels to pin on while jumping off the back porch ) Pick up a copy !!! Review ID: 10000000001338254 Was this review helpful? Report this review The series got much better this second season, especially since they brought back Noel Neill as the pesky, cute Lois Lane. She had good chemistry with Reeves and you could see that it was possible for Clark and Lois to have a budding relationship, even if they mostly referred to each other as 'Mr. Kent' and 'Miss Lane.' I bought this for my father, since he grew up with fond memories of the series, so it's a real treat to own. I actually find this show to have a real witty and clever sense of humor, Perry White is hilarious with his cranky tirades at his Daily Planet employees, and Jimmy Olsen is in one mishap after another, but he's got such spunk. I recommend this series to Superman fans everywhere, it's a classic. Review ID: 10000000012214834 Was this review helpful? It's a bit cheesy in special effects but fun to watch and enjoyable. We definitely recommend it. Review ID: 10000000007543312 Was this review helpful? For this is a good tv show to watch. I have watched a little of season 1. Review ID: 10000000007088028 Was this review helpful? Report this review I remembered the man of steel. He could stop a bullet, train,& planes. He was for justice for all. There to help the needy. There to fight for the good of everyone. Just to remember the ones we looked up to when we were kids a real hero of the times. Something we don't have much of these days. Review ID: 10000000001505050 Was this review helpful? This second season set, as is the case with the season one set, is great for any fans of the show, and even for younger fans that haven't been spoiled by the great special effects in today's TV and movie world. Nice extras are included on the DVDs. I am anxiously awaiting the final 4 seasons to be released on DVD. Review ID: 10000000001278604 Was this review helpful?
