The Princess Bride (DVD, 2001)

This is actually my husbands favorite movie but I enjoy it greatly also. You have a boy whos grandfather is reading him a story. The movie cuts back and forth a couple times from them to the story being played out. The story is about a man who loves a girl but then he dissappears. The story includes everything from a giant, a sword fighter, pirate, romance, action, magic, and so much more! There are lines that will stay in your head for a long time after seeing the movie and if you think that is INCONCEIVABLE!! Then you haven't seen this movie :). A must see!!

The title of this movie may turn some people away from it but let me tell you it is one funny show. I was real impressed with it and was even suprised when my kids actually set thru the whole thing with me. Great show.

I did not receive my purchase. It has been over a month since the auction and i still haven't received the purchase or my money back. He has been reluctant to resopnd appropriately and has been totally unprofessional about his whole ordeal. I am totally unsatisfied and will never use this seller again!

I never got my movie from the seller. That makes me really upset. It was going to be a Christmas gift. I'm not to please about what happen.

Princess Bride is a classic that everyone should see. Don't let the title fool you, this movie isn't all mushy and girly... all the guys I know love this movie!
Comedy and fantasy filled, this movie is a fun watch and so memorable! Enjoyable for the ladies because of the romance and the hunkie hero, and fun for the guys because of the action and the comedy act.
This movie is good for the entire family! Such a wonderful addition to any movie collection!

No, it's not going to require much thought, it's not Casablanca or anything along those levels, but if you do not yet have this movie in your collection, there is something seriously wrong with you!!! This movie has some of the best actors/actresses that you will see, with great roles for them to play. If you like romance movies...GET IT! If you like adventure movies...GET IT! If you like action movies...GET IT! Get off your butt, and get this freaking movie!!!

This well written comedy will forever be a favorite with my family. It doesn't matter how much time goes by... if we're wondering what to watch and someone says... "How about "The Princess Bride," the yeahs begin!
The entire cast is fabulous! The story is great...As Peter Falk says to Fred Savage (his grandson in the movie) ... this story has fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles...

I was first introduced to this movie when my friend starting quoting it all the time. She kept pretending to be this character called "Buttercup" and this evil guy called "Prince Humperdui... something" was the bad guy. I didn't really get it, but I decided to make my family rent it one time. The name of the movie sounded cheesy, and the cover of the movie was equally, if not more cheesy. I wasn't really looking forward to watching it.

But I'm sure glad I did. This is a really great movie. It is a classic fairy tale, however, its little extra touches are what set it apart. Random things happen that cause the viewer to be intrigued throughout the movie. Funny comebacks and lines are sure to have the viewer give a good chuckle. This movie is not the movie you would believe it to be from the cover. It's so much more than that. It's a true classic that everyone in the family (even the adults) will enjoy.

I bought this DVD as a gift. I know how great the movie is and wanted to share the joy. It is clean, presentable for kids, yet complex enough for all ages. It is a hilarious comedy that gets better the more you watch it! I reccomend it to anyone and everyone. The Princess Bride is a classic!

Great comedy for all ages. It is non stop, hitting you with yet another killer line, one after another! It has an awesome cast (includes Cory Elwes and Robin Wright Penn.) The characters are extremely entertaining! A classic comic fairy tale that has all the right stuff; castles, swordplay, giants, an evil prince, a beautiful princess, faithful (& cute) farm boy and more! Moral of the story: True love conquers all. You being disappointed with this movie would be...inconceivable!!!

I decided to buy this movie because a romantic individual recommended it to me and I myself am a romantic. This movie was absolutely worth purchasing. It was unique, sweet, and very special. I was touched by many scenes throughout the movie. It was a fantasy movie which evoked real emotions. I enjoyed this movie because it was fun to watch and the theme was true love.

fast shipping, good product, aside from all of the homosexual undercurrents, and lack of any nipples whatsoever in the entire movie, it was great, i even watched the movie in slow motion just for the desperate hope that i missed a nipple scene while blinking or or fixing myself a fried peanut butter and banana sandwhich. why are there no nipples in the movie? I would like to be put in touch with the director of the movie to ask him personally, or perhaps start an online forum where others can discuss the movie nipplage...or lack thereof. Will ebay facilitate this meeting? it would be greatly appreciated, and your help would not go unnoticed, oh no, i assure i will notice it, and you will be rewarded o great ebay of the net...marry me!

Everyone loves The Princess Bride, me included! Now you don't have to wait for it to come on TV to share it with the next generation. Your kids might be skeptical at first, but they'll be laughing soon enough! I love the Giant!

My kids were hesitant when I brought this home along with a few other movies. They werent sold on it but I persisted and told them to try it. Well, now it is one of their favorite movies! (I did the same with them on Caddyshack!) There are SO MANY lines to quote from this movie. Billy Crystal as the soothsayer is HILARIOUS! (as always with him) So many unforgetable characters. There hasnt been a movie like this since!

As far as I am concerned, this is one of the best movies ever made. It is hilariously funny and very clever. I actually already owned the movie in VHS format, but decided to buy it on DVD. This particular DVD copy is the Special Edition with documentary, commentary and exclusive footage; great bonuses for me, since I enjoy this movie so much. The cast is fantastic and the writing and filming superb. I highly recommend this movie for the entire family!

A fairytale for children and adults alike. There is a lot of humor mixed in with a sweet love story. One of my all time favorite movies in which I never get tired of watching. I had another copy of the DVD but gave it away and needed to replace the movie so I found another through Ebay.

This movie is a few years old, however my Grandson had saw it and enjoyed it so much we wanted to buy it. Since I purchased it we have seen it about 20 times already. It is definitely a family movie that you can enjoy with young children. I am sure we will see it many more times.

No words that I could write would be good enough to tell the rare someone who has not seen this 1987 movie how great it is!

It is the fairy tale story of Buttercup (Robin Wright Penn) and Westley (Cary Elwes), who live in the land of Florin in the days when there were castles as well as ordinary people with farms. Buttercup owns the farm, and she delights in belittling Farm Boy Westley, who always answers her every demand with "As you wish," which is translated "I love you." Eventually, Buttercup figures out Westley's love, and they are to be married. But Westley has no money, so he has to leave to make his fortune.

Thus, they are separated, and he is reported dead. The movie continues with Buttercup eventually being betrothed to Prince Humperdink (Chris Sarandon); kidnapped by Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin), and Fezzick (Andre the Giant)--a true life giant of a man; and rescued by Roberts the Pirate. And this is just the beginning!

Each of these characters has his own story, and you will delight in them all. You will be quoting forever some of the lines: "Inconceivable" by Vizzini, "I am Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!" by obviously Inigo Montoya, "As you wish" by Westley, and "Have fun storming the castle" by Miracle Max (Billy Crystal).

The fencing scenes in this movie between Westley and Inigo Montoya have been rated the best ever made in a movie. In fact, Cary Elwes was chosen for the part of Westley because of his handsome, athletic ability and his similarity to Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., well known for his fencing movies.

This movie is handsomely photographed with lots of special effects. Be sure to look for the Fire Pit with a ROUS (Rat of Unusual Size), the Screaming Eels, and the quicksand.

And I almost forgot! This movie is actually narrated by Peter Falk, who plays Grandpa reading to his sick grandson, played by a very young Fred Savage, who initially wants to be read a sports story and then gets into the plot of the story. I also loved Grandpa's line that "In my day, we had no television, but we had books!"

And would you believe it is directed by Rob Reiner--yes, Meathead of "All in the Family" fame. He does an unbelievable job, which he should have been nominated for.

And don't forget to look for Billy Crystal and Carol Kane as Miracle Max and his wife, Witch Valerie, who are unbelievably disquised as very old people with magical cures. You will not even recognize them!

There are many special features in this 2001 updated DVD. You will get to see all the actors and Rob Reiner as the appear now, and they tell the story of how the movie was made. It was a pleasure to watch these too!

This is a DVD that you will want to add to your permanent library!
