The first few times using the special features, I had to consult the manual (like anything you use!). Easy to load picts to the computer, using the USB cord or taking out the card. I love zoom! it really gets up close and personal with out being up close and personal!! Highly recommended for all! Review ID: 10000000000703619 Was this review helpful? The clarity of the Olympus optics on this camera make it's 2.1 megapixels comparable to cameras with twice the pixels. It is capable of 8 x 10 enlargements that compare to 35mm slr's. I've had one for 5 years and still see no need to "upgrade". Review ID: 10000000001162752 Was this review helpful? Report this review Sort by: Reviews 10 of 12 people found this review helpful. This is a great camera with powerful 10x optical zoom. I purchased a C700 in 2001 and used it to photograph most of the pictures you see on www.edgewaterbeach.com. The homepage view was shot using a polarizer filter at "High Quality" resolution, but nothing was altered or retouched. In this commercial website application I used the manual override frequently to over and under expose the f-stop in order to obtain the vivid colors indoors and outdoors. That's just something you have to experiment with, but being digital, taking several different exposures is no problem. I have a Nikon 35mm which I retired after purchasing this Olympus C700. Nice clear pictures, excels outdoors and bring shots close to home. With the 10X optical zoom, 2 megapixels has not been a factor. Lots of options for those that do their own settings, I use it as a point and shoot camera. Very nice accurate colour. As with all big zoom lens, digital viewfinder is different. Good on batteries with rechargable NIMHs, and very good if you don't keep the monitor on all the time. Review ID: 10000000000882038 Was this review helpful? The lenses are so perfect that it shows a much clearer picture than many other digital cameras I have seen. It prints out a full page, 8 x 11, very very nicely. And the 10x zoom in allows for better wildlife shots and candid closeups of people. The 3-second shutter delay is the only negative, but I have been using my friend's new Kodak digital, and it also has the shutter lag. It is a great camera--even for ayoung person, even if it is used on ebay. :) Review ID: 10000000001710425 Was this review helpful? Report this review 6 of 6 people found this review helpful. This is a great camera. Fortunately it's quality and range of features is not widely known so I got it at a good price. I didn't know about the C-700UZ until I saw a photo on the net that impressed me so much that I looked up the EXIF info in the .jpeg file and found the camera model. It was taken with an Olympus C-700UZ and after doing a google search I knew I wanted to try one. I've used several digital cameras over the past few years but this is the one I like best. The 10x optical zoom is way cool and the ability to use it as a point and shoot or SLR make it a great bargain. These cameras originally sold for around $600 but you can get one for a fraction of that now. Review ID: 10000000002307124 Was this review helpful? My husband gave me a new Olympus C-700 for Christmas a few years ago when digital cameras were still pretty pricey. It took such great photos that one of my daughters bought a refurbished one for herself. I used mine for my eBay auctions, and both were real work-horses. They never gave us a bit of trouble, that is, until they were dropped a few times. I'm sure we could have had them repaired but we couldn't afford it, so, at my daughter's urging, I sold both of our cameras on eBay as parts and put the money towards a used one. This camera takes fabulous, detailed pictures that even impressed one of our college instructors. I did a photoshop project using only photographs I took with the Olympus C-700. Several of the photos, some of which were of hand-blown glass sea creatures, were taken indoors at the Monterey Bay Aquarium -through window display cases- with no flash or special lenses. The instructor, who was a photographer and also taught photography classes, thought I had used photos from a professional on-line resource, they were that good! This camera will also do a pretty decent 15-second video with sound, but the lighting needs to be really bright or it will come out looking dark with a redish-orange tone to it. The only real drawback I have found is that, unlike the newer cameras that have built-in rechargeable batteries, this one depends on 4 AA-batteries. If you can't afford a new digital camera, I highly recommend buying the Olympus C-700. Review ID: 10000000003483921 Was this review helpful? It is hard to take good pics at 10X zoom though. You may want to lean against something. Great Camera. Review ID: 10000000003023724 Was this review helpful? Had previously owned a similar camera which "just stopped working" - maybe a capacitor or transister(?) just pooped out. Great results and good shots all the time. Only wish that it had image stabilization as at 30 power zoom, even heart beats seem so show up. Easy to use as "point and shoot", pretty good battery life, etc. No real complaints. Camera has a lot of power and capabilities but instruction manual leaves a lot to be desired....rather than lots of diagrams, it would be nice to have each option fully explained and diagramed on a separate page. They take great pictures, are lite and easy to carry around and can take a good deal of abuse. My first digital was a Sony Mavica, and while it is a good camera, it is a bit big and clunky to carry around and takes 3.5" floppy disks or an expensive smartcard. The Olympus has accesories that are easy to get a hold of, affordable and excellent quality. The majority operate on regular AA batteries and rechargables in them work great. The camera also takes a decent video, though only about 30 seconds worth, it is very nice when uploaded onto the computer. Review ID: 10000000004454492 Was this review helpful? I bought the Olympus CAMEDIA C 700 Ultra Zoom 2.1 Megapixel three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive camera. It has a 2M-pixel camera, video , and 10xZOOM. . My only complaint is that there are no original cover and the pictures with flash are a littlebit dark(from my point of view). Shipment was quick and problemless. The price is excellent in comparison with the quality Overall, I'd recommend it if you're on a budget. Review ID: 10000000002973362 Was this review helpful? This camera has been with me for years and I have taken great shots . I have two smart media cards which cost alot so I decided to see if I could pick up a duplicate. Everything works great on the new Camedia. I hope to get many more years out of this Olympus. Thanks, Dan Review ID: 10000000005052964 Was this review helpful? I have been collecting cameras since I was thirteen. They go back to the 1880's thru modern Nikons. I like the experience of learning the quirks and possibilities of each camera to achieve various photos. I am approaching this Olympus CAMEDIA C 700 the same way I would "become friends" with a manual 35mm SLR. I have not been disappointed. I've caught images of Mercury and the Moon setting, spring blooms, waterfalls, spunky chipmunks, majestic thunderhead clouds, rainbows . . . just getting started. The lower resolution is a non-issue. I give out little photo albums to friends, the 4"x 6" format produced from a local store digital printout machine can not be distinguished from a 35mm film print. Besides, most photo images are viewed on some sort of digital screen anyway. The auto focus is much quicker than my Coolpix Nikon. I also like the idea of using AA batteries. I can always find them anywhere. I have accumulated 7 memory cards 64mb to 128mb for ample image capacity when out shooting. Though this camera is bigger and heavier than newer digital models, I find the size and weight help me keep the camera steadier for sharper images. Keep in mind, that this camera went for about $600 in its first years; and its quality construction makes it still very nice camera in 2008 . . . Not many digital cameras in that price range, from that same generation can claim the same! The fellow I bought this camera said to just have fun with it. That's exactly what I am doing! I have used it many times to take pictures for e-bay selling. It takes very good pictures. Even someone not photo inclined {like me} can take great pictures! I am very pleased with the purchase. It seems like it does all the work for you. I just point it to the thing I want to photogragh, hit the botton, and the photo turns out focused, and just the right illumination. About the only thing complicated to it is that it does many different things and I have still got alot of learning to still do, but I am getting there. I would definately recommend this camera. It was ahead of its time for a short period. Still, it makes a very good picture and is easy to use. Review ID: 10000000011859316 Was this review helpful? Some of the best features for me are the view finder and the size of the camera. It's quite light but big enough to rest against your face for stability. Takes wonderful pictures, especially with additional lenses like a wide angle. I'm playing with filters right now. Very pleased. Review ID: 10000000009393839 Was this review helpful?
