Be careful how much you bid on an Olympus CAMEDIA C-4000 Zoom camera because Olympus no longer services or repairs this model. I've had 2 of them, 1st one was stolen and the 2nd one I just sent back for repair to find out that they will no longer repair it. Even though Olympus still auctions refurbished units on ebay. Olympus will offer to upgrade or trade up on camera's, but they are little help in trying to find a newer model that is compatible with the $400 in lenses, etc. that you may have for your C-4000. Otherwise this is a good camera! Review ID: 10000000002445563 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 10/25/06 by: 7 of 7 people found this review helpful. I've owned many digital cameras and the Camedia C 4000 is one of the best. So many people are concerned with the high megapixel, which is cool if you are going to make poster size prints. The C4000 has 4 megapixel which give you excellent quality 8x10 prints and larger. The lens is what you should be concerned with. The lens on the C4000 are excellent large glass lens which give you great clarity and the colors are almost aways right on. The camera has a good feel in you hand and is constructed very well for many years of dependable service. The Olympus Camedia C4000 is a great camera which preforms as well if not better then some of the newer and more expensive models. Excellent buy. Review ID: 10000000002180605 Was this review helpful? Although I owned other digital cameras before and after buying the c-4000 i must say that i prefer using it instead of the pricier models. It has a semi-rugged lightweight construction, nice zoom lens, great macro feature and photo quality and it's also very easy to use. I highly recommend this camera !! Easy to use on automatic, or you can be very creative on manual. Olympus should put this one back on their product line up! Review ID: 10000000003250919 Was this review helpful? The purchased camera was the replacement and the same brand and model. The size and the picture results that are obtained with these cameras are excellent. I have yet to use all the features available as there are many. The large LCD screen is also great. Even though this is an older model, for the costs, ease, and flexibility of use it is an outstanding buy. New cameras do offer higher pixels, but usually you don't use this higher horsepower, nor need it. Review ID: 10000000002822380 Was this review helpful? The functions are pretty straight forward, as far as turning the flash on and off, or setting the macro feature. Battery life is good, especially with rechargeables. Unlike a lot of digital cameras that feature digital zoom, the C4000 makes use of a very good optical lens- which by the way, no matter what you spend on a digital camera or how many mega pixels, the lens is what ultimately determines image quality. I bought this particular camera because I have access to the same model at my workplace. Of course, they bought theirs brand new for a couple hundred bucks more. In the scant months that I've had the C4000 it's paid for itself. The 64mb media card will hold more pictures than I could possibly take (well, not really) and the screen is easy to see even in bright sunlight. Like any other manufacturer of electronic equipment, no single design or model stays current for long, which is kind of a shame because this is one great little camera. I was a previously owner of the camera, and lost it when it fell into the ocean while on vacation. I think the prices are extremely high for a camera that is over 8 years old. Would tell a buyer to check on the new technology first before making a final decision. Review ID: 10000000004735131 Was this review helpful? Had researched before buying. Review ID: 10000000002930992 Was this review helpful? Overall, it's good but only things that make a littke disapointed is the memory capacity and how hard to get smart media memory. But I can still buy media traveler to keep the photo. So, if you want a great camera with unexpensive price (without thinking about the memory media), choose this stuf. Review ID: 10000000001139646 Was this review helpful? I have this camera and I love it because it takes really good pictures and makes ME look like I know what I am doing. I purchased this one to give to a friend who lost his camera and does not like the new one he purchased to replace the lost one. This is the first camera I have felt comfortable using. Not sure why Olympus quit making it. Not all people need the latest greatest newest camera. Most of us just need a camera that works great every time we use it. If anyone needs a camera ... you will not find one that takes better pictures or works easier then this one. Happy eBaying fellow eBayers. Review ID: 10000000005151400 Was this review helpful? What I dislike is,the smartmedia cards are very hard to buy in your everyday electonic store. The cards are very expensive plus 128 mb is there largest card they havce to offer. Because of the added expense of the smartmedia card, I would not recomemd purchasing any Digital Camera that used that type of media. Review ID: 10000000003173022 Was this review helpful? This model of Olympus is a bit dated considering rapid advances in technology, but for use in a classroom -- it is fantastic. This camera operates on 4 AA batteries, which is a convenience in a setting where running to the store is not an option. In addition, the camera is lightweight, yet durable enough for students to use with their assignments, too. Additionally, Olympus software appears to be universal within the Olympus family. This is the third similar Olympus purchased! Review ID: 10000000002263065 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 04/06/09 by: 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. I bought this camera brand new in 2005 and recently while I was photographing my 5 year old curious little niece, she reached out and pulled on the telescoping lense. :-( I was not surprised that the lense no longer worked. I purchased a used one on eBay since I cannot find one that compares with the quality and ease of use. It is quicker and sharper than any other point and shoot camera I've had. The only negative I have to share so far is that the telescoping lense is a bit too fragile. Specailly if you have a curious little niece like mine. :-) Review ID: 10000000011481091 Was this review helpful? I purchased this camera to replace the Olympus Camedia C-3020 3.0 megapixel camera that I have used and loved for the last 7 years. I didn't want a big upgrade (no need for a 7-megapixel or more) and I like a little bit of bulk in my camera -- I hate having to squint through a window on a camera that feels like a credit card. Another consideration was that I didn't want to have to relearn controls and menus on a new camera. I used many features on my old one and I liked knowing where they were. I also loved the quality of my Olympus Camedia photographs. I was so pleased when I received the C 4000 -- it works the same as my old camera but with the added bonus of an extra megapixel. However, one very big difference that I didn't notice when I made the decision to buy was that on the C-3020 there is a window on top of the camera showing me the number of photos I have left on the card and the lighting setting, so I do not have to turn on the LCD display while taking photos. But the C 4000 doesn't have this small display window!! In other words, in order to see the flash setting or the number of photos I have left, I have to turn on the LCD screen, which will use a lot more battery juice and almost force me to use the LCD display when taking photos. I can live with this, but wanted to make other potential buyers aware of this difference. Review ID: 10000000010616963 Was this review helpful? The quality of the pictures are outstanding. A great camera for both the amateur or the advanced photographer. Don't think twice if you have the opportunity to purchase this camera. You will love it. I bought it because I needed one for less money at the time. I don't like the size of this camera, it is too big. Sometimes the pictures are very very bright and I have to ajust the flash to a different one. I am not sure if I would pay a lot of money for a new one like this. I bought it used and very cheap so I am not comlpaining... Review ID: 10000000005369872 Was this review helpful? Report this review 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. I've owned an Olympus C4000Z for years. This was a consumer reports "best buy" when introduced and I've thoroughly enjoyed mine. It has a high quality lens and the ability to shoot in many different modes....it's fun, and inexpensive, to experiment. Although a rugged camera, mine didn't survive a two day trip pinned against the roof rack of my vehicle. I was thrilled to find (and buy) 2 of them on ebay at a HUGE saving over the new price. Full featured, fun and easy to use, this camera is a fantastic value at current prices! Review ID: 10000000005299863 Was this review helpful? The digital zoom is not easily accessible and makes the pictures appear grainy. Review ID: 10000000001484571 Was this review helpful? Report this review Ready to share your opinion with others?
